[News from News Center] School of Environmental and Chemical Engineering held the opening ceremony for YSU Practical Teaching Base with Beidaihe hospital at its outpatient hall. At the ceremony were Jing Wang, Deputy Director of YSU Academic Affairs Office; Faming Gao, Dean of School of Environmental and Chemical Engineering; Zhiyong Jia, Party Secretary of Beidaihe Bureau of Health and Family Planning; and Chen Sun, Chief of Beidaihe Hospital.

The cooperation between universities and hospitals, a new concept combining practice and theory, is the requirement of the time and society. It will strengthen talent cultivation, scientific research and technological development, thereby promoting the co-development of both sides, which is a win-win situation. YSU Practical Teaching Base provides a platform for Biological Engineering majors, and a communication and cooperation platform for YSU and Beidaihe Hospital to combine industry, education, and research. The School of Environmental and Chemical Engineering of YSU now has 132 faculty and staff, including 11 doctoral dissertation supervisors and more than 80 master thesis supervisors. With a 16-year history, Biological Engineering has started to recruit full time undergraduates since 2001.The Class of Excellent Biological Engineers Started to enroll students in 2012, and now has over 200 full-time students. Graduates find employment in the fields of pharmaceutics, detection, and fermentation in enterprises, public institutions, and scientific research institutes all over China. Founded in 1955, Beidaihe Hospital has become a modern 2A hospital of leading comprehensive technology aftermore than 60 years’ development.It totally meets the requirements of the base with its abundant medical instruments and experience in management.
