[News from News Center] On the afternoon of Oct. 26th, YSU held Lecture from Excellent Teams of 2017 Social Practice at 109, Student Activity Center, East Campus. YSU Vice President Sheng Huang, Director of Admissions and Career Development Services Hongbing Zhang attended the lecture as well as leaders and teachers from Student Affairs Office and related schools, and over 1000 student representatives.

Deputy Secretary of Communist Youth League YSU Committee Yang Zhang addressed the lecture. He indicated that, during two-month college student social practice themed by “celebrate the 19th CPC National Congress”, YSU followed tightly the requirements of Communist Youth League Central Committee and Hebei Committee, and adhered to the principle of “Programs down to grass-roots, motivate the excellence”. Key service teams gradually transited to excellence motivation from task-sharing modes. Supported by grass-root school committees in foundation, policy, guidance and personnel, a layout with 3 state-level key teams as demonstration, 100 university-level teams as main body, and 277 school-level teams as coverage was formed.

On behalf of hundreds of teams, 6 teams shared the thoughts, gain and inspiration from the practice. “Artistic poverty reduction for colorful Yinli” from School of Arts and Design spent 2 years in transforming a poor mountain village to a village with picturesque scenery. “Heart with three rural issues” soil research key practice team from School of Environmental and Chemical Engineering attached a bunch of numbers much significance by telling the numbers of samples, daily steps, visited villages and agencies and news recommendation. “Education Surpport at Huachangyu” key practice team from Liren College gave education support at back country of Qinglong County for 3 years and grew together with students. “Hyacinth” key practice team from School of Information Science and Engineering established modern technologic platform to learn Red culture, which promoted the inheritance of Jinggangshan Spirit. “Internet Plus Promotion” key practice team from School of Electrical Engineering combined internet with the education in Luan County to innovate the local education. “Developing Zunyi” Red culture key practice team visited old revolutionary base areas to promote Red culture and inherit cultural classics with the actions of the young. At last, the lecture ended in warm applauses. Attended students expressed their preference to this form of sharing, and they gained a lot of reflections and enlightenment from the lecture, which would inspire them to train themselves and serve the society in social practice in the future.
The social practice share was firstly in the form of lecture to publicize and exhibit the social practice work to all students by Communist Youth League YSU Committee. During winter and summer holiday this year, YSU divided the social practice work into 6 aspects including Observation on National and Social Conditions, Inheritance of Historical Culture, Construction of Intelligent City, Education Care and Poverty Alleviation, Research on Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and the Eco-environment Protection. The projects were set up as demanded, and the teams were constructed according to the projects. Students are inspired to observe the society and know more about the society with the problematic consciousness. The social practice this year was reported by national key media for more than 300 times including CCTV, youth.cn, College Volunteer Service Alliance. Especially, the “Risk-elimination of blind tracks” practice team was reported at “Amazing China” topic of CCTV Time No.1 program. YSU practice teams did good for local people and tried to construct long-term practice service mechanisms, which gained welcome and praises from local masses. Taking the selection for the advanced as an opportunity, YSU innovated the mechanisms and methods, and selected the advanced groups and individuals of “Three Rural Areas” in the form of evaluation defence, which boosted the practice results.
