YSU Makes Great Achievement in 2017 National Academic Degree Authorization

[News from the News Center] On March 22, theAcademic DegreeCommitteeof the State Councilissued the list of 2017 newly authorized unitsfor Doctoral and Master’s degree.Approved by the 34^thsession of theAcademic DegreeCommitteeof the State Council, YSU is authorized to grant Professional Doctoral Degree in Engineeringand offer Doctoral Degrees in other 3first-level disciplines: Physics, Mechanics, and BusinessAdministration. YSU is also authorized to grant Master’s Degree in Financeand offer Master’s Degree in other 5first-level disciplines:Marxism Theory,Mathematics,Oil and Gas Engineering,Design, and Chemistry.

Up until now, YSU owns 14first-level disciplines authorized to offer Doctoral Degree,1discipline authorized to offerProfessionalDoctoral Degree, 33first-level disciplines authorized to offerMaster’s Degree,and11disciplines authorized to offerProfessionalMaster’s Degree.The newProfessionalDoctor’s Degreeis YSU’sbreakthrough,and YSUis the onlyuniversitywhich was authorizedin HebeiProvince. Thisnewauthorizationwill bring thechanges tothe structure ofYSU’s Doctoral Degree,and it willalso further improve the level of educationinengineeringat YSU, and provideaguarantee and impetus for better service tobuilding China into amanufacturing power and the training of leading talents in manufacturing industry.

This round of academicdegree authorizationreviewstarted in March 2017.Upon the application from the degree-granting unit, the provincial academic degree committee shall verify and determine the qualifications, which werefollowedby the applications review organized by the provincial degree committee, and the second-round review was conducted by the State Council’s Academic Degree Committee.The results and the selection procedures were publicized, and the proposed list was finally approved by the State Council’s Academic Degree Committee. From the beginning of application, YSUhadattachedgreat importance tothe preparation. YSU started the application atthe end of 2016andheld a number of meetingsfor material preparation and modificationparticularly, in proposing andreviewingthedisciplines for application. With aconsensus on theoptimizedlayout and the development of disciplines,all YSU departments coordinated andhavesuccessfully completed the application of2017.
