[News from the News Center] From May 11- 13, the final of the 6th National “TRIZ Cup” Innovation Method Competition was held in Harbin Engineering University (HEU). YSU students fought their way and won awards, two First awards, two Second awards and four Third awards. YSU also won the awards for Excellent Organization.
The competition started from February. Eighteen teams participated in the competition and eight qualified for the final. After two days’ oral defense and display, two entries “A 3D Printer Based on Cylindrical Coordinate System and “A Reverse Construction Method for Construction Control of Steel Truss Transfer Floor” both won the First awards in the category of innovative design.

National “TRIZ Cup” Innovation Method Competition for College Students is a national competition co-sponsored by National Innovation Method Society, Science and Technology Department of Heilongjiang Province, Education Department of Heilongjang Province, Heilongjiang Association for Science and Technology, and Intellectual Property Office of Heilongjang Province. YSU organized four trainings of innovation method study and application for students centered around the preparation of this competition. Students participating in the competition from each Schools attended the relevant training and application practice, through which they had gained a greater understanding of “TRIZ” innovation method. They were able to apply “TRIZ” theory to innovation and entrepreneurship practice. Through the learning and application students’ awareness of innovation, the capability of innovation and entrepreneurship was dramatically improved.
“TRIZ” is an invention of problem-solving theory, created by Genrich S. Altshuler who is an inventor of the former Soviet Union. The core of it is the theory of technology evolution, whichprovides a systematic theory and method to identify and solve problems.
