[News from News Center] On May 12 and 13, the sixth National “TRIZ” Cup Innovation Method Competition for College Students co-sponsored by National Innovation Method Society, Science and Technology Department of Heilongjiang Province and Education Department of Heilongjang Province was held in Harbin Engineering University. After a fierce competition, three student teams from Liren College won one national Second award, and two national Third awards, Liren College also won the awards for Excellent Organization. It is the best result ever since Liren College took part in this competition.

National “TRIZ” Cup Innovation Method Competition for College Students is a national competition for innovation and entrepreneurship by applying the “TRIZ” innovation method, aiming at improving the comprehensive innovation and entrepreneurship ability attracting and encouraging more students to grasp innovation method and take an active part in innovation and entrepreneurship activities. After the preliminary review, more than 400 innovation and entrepreneurship projects of five categories like invention, process improvement, innovative design, originality in life and entrepreneurship qualified for the final. The organizing committee also invited specialists from technological enterprises, investment and financing institutions, and technological intelligence agencies to participate in the work of review, which provided some comprehensive guidance in the feasibility, market value, transformation channel and financing channel of the design entries, which facilitates the construction of communication and cooperation platform for the transformation of science and technology achievements, and promote the development of the projects and open the entrepreneurship channel.
This competition was highly valued by the leaders and well organized by Innovation and Entrepreneurship Guidance Center. College started the propaganda and preparations for the competition and organized Liren TRIZ Enthusiast League as early as last November. In March, 2018, “TRIZ” Innovation method Competition—Liren College preliminary competition was held and held series lectures and pre-competition training about “TRIZ” Innovation Method were delivered. The review work and “TRIZ” theoretical guidance received great support from Prof. Zhou Hongbin from School of Civil Engineering and Mechanics and Prof. Chu Qingzhong from School of Vehicles and Energy. Safety Socket Automatically Switching Off after Power Failure and Power Supply Used in Dormitory from Tianyuan Team won the second award, New-Type Dust-proof Spotlight Solar Street Light from i-Notion Team, and Magnetic Skid-proof Ruler from Zhilian Team won the third awards.
Outside of the competition, the members of Liren College Students’ Science and Technology Association actively took part in the annual convention of National College Students TRIZ League. By communicating with and learned from excellent teams from other universities, they gained the advanced theoretical knowledge and some valuable experience in the application of “TRIZ” innovation method.
“TRIZ” innovation method is a new practical theoretical method. It provides a systematic theory and method to identify and solve problems. Through the competition, “TRIZ” innovation method was greatly introduced and applied on a larger scale, which broadens students’ mind in innovation and entrepreneurship, aroused students’ enthusiasm of innovation and entrepreneurship. After the competition, Liren College will organize some subsequent activities such as invite excellent teams to give some lectures to share the experience and spread what they gained in the competition.
