[News from the news center] From May 12 to 13,The 8th China Petroleum Engineering Design Competitionwas held in Beijing. In this competition, YSU won 3 national second prizes (each for knowledge competition, innovation group and comprehensive group), 4 national third prizes (1 in comprehensive group, 3 in single-group), 7 encouragement prizes, 21 successful participation prizes. Yang Manping, Li Zifeng, Li Jingyuan, and Li Guanghui were awarded the title of “Excellent Tutor” in this competition, and Ma Pinghua and Chu Qingzhong were awarded the title of “Advanced individual” in the competition

The number of prizes we won and the number of participating teams in this competition have reached a record high. The "Great Wall Team I" composed of Wei Qiang, Li Jingshuai, Wei Jiusen, and Meng Ling won the second prize in the comprehensive group, and the “Great Wall Innovation Team II” composed of Ren Wenming and Zhang Chaoping won National second prize in the Innovation Group.

On the morning of May 12, YSU undergraduate students majoring in Petroleum Engineering, the group of “The Light of Yanshan Mountain” consisting of Wei Jiusen, Cao Yufeng, Yang Songlin and Wang Xuebing, participated in the knowledge contest competing with students from 22 universities across the country, and worked to semi-finals with the group's first result. Their performance demonstrated YSU students’ excellence, and finally won national second prize together with China University of Petroleum (Beijing). They would go on to participate in the “Petro Cup” International Petroleum Engineering Knowledge Contest. At the same time, Feng Shouqing’s calligraphy work “the Iron Man Spirit” was selected for the 2nd National Petroleum University Exhibition of Petroleum Culture.
The China Petroleum Engineering Design Competition is jointly sponsored by the Center for Academic Degrees and Postgraduate Education of the MoE, the Youth Science and Technology Center of the China Association for Science and Technology, the China National Committee of the World Petroleum Council, the China Petroleum Institute, and the China Petroleum Education Society, and organized by China Petroleum University (Beijing). The theme of this competition is “Remembering the Heart and Constantly Evergreen” and selecting the “Old Oilfield Transformation” as the competition title, attracting 2529 teams from 53 colleges/universities and research institutes at home and abroad to participate in this competition. A total of 1,322 works were submitted, among which 78 entries were nominated for the National Finals.
