[News from the News Center] From July 20 to 22, the “Subot” Cup The 5th National College Students Concrete Material Design Competition was held at Harbin Institute of Technology. The team sent by YSU School of Architecture and Mechanics performed well in the competition and won the Group Third Prize.

The team sent by YSUSchool of Civil Engineering and Mechanics(members: Yin Bijing, Xu Jianfeng, Wang Yumei, instructor: Xu Qiushi) won the Group Third Prize, and Xu Qiushi received the award of outstanding instructor. During the competition, our students successfully passed the theoretical test and the actual operation of the two competition units. Especially in the actual operation, the team members of our school took the lead in completing the concrete mixing task in the first 30 groups, which was highly praised by the referee. The achievement of this achievement is inseparable from the instructors’ guidance and school leaders’ support.
With the growth of the National College Students' Concrete Materials Design Competition, it attracted increasing number of participating teams which has grown from the initial 47 to the current 135, and the impact of the event has improved significantly. At the same time, the contest puts higher requirements for the basic knowledge and practical skills of the teachers and students. YSU will take the competition as an opportunity to fully implement the OBE education concept, take students as the center, and pay attention to the cultivation of students’ practical ability, and strive to achieve better performance in future competitions.
