YSU Wins Awards in the 12th “Siemens Cup” CIMC Hebei Division

[News from the News Center] From July 23rdto 26th, the 12th“Siemens Cup” China Intelligent Manufacturing Challenge (CIMC) Hebei Division was held at Caofeidian District, which was sponsored by The Teaching Guiding Committee of Automation in Higher Education, MoE, Siemens Ltd. China, China Simulation Federation, and Hebei Education Department, and hosted by North China University of Science and Technology. YSU team competed with other 157 teams from 25 universities and colleges including Hebei University, Hebei University of Technology, and Agricultural University of Hebei. Eventually, 18 teams of YSU School of Electrical Engineering won 4 Grand Prizes, 5 First Prizes, and 6 Second Prizes.

With the support from YSU Academic Affairs Office, leaders of School of Electrical Engineering paid much attention and organized actively. Under the guidance of the Wang Yueling and Hu Zhongquan, the team participated in continuous process design and development, and logic control design and development in the four-day competition. All the team members fully demonstrated YSU students’ professional knowledge, excellent team spirit and a keen analytical ability. In addition, the competition gained support from the School of Information Science and Engineering, School of Civil Engineering and Mechanics and Liren College. This competition enhanced students’ practical ability and creative thinking, and showed the style of YSU teachers and students, which won honors for YSU.

“Siemens Cup” CIMC is a national competition signed by the Ministry of Education (MoE) and Siemens Ltd. China. Since 2006, CIMC has been developed into one of the largest student competitions in the field of industrial automation in Chinawith support of nearly 300 universities and colleges. In 2010, it was included in the Quality Engineering Project funded by MoE.

CIMC aims to promote the education of engineering practice ability in universities and colleges, improve students’engineering interest, engineering accomplishment, engineering design ability, practical ability, engineering innovation and engineering research and development ability. The competition advocates the pragmatic learning style of putting theory with practice and the humanistic spirit of teamwork, and trains students’ comprehensive ability of knowledge to provide practical platform for training high-quality science and engineering talents.
