[News from the News Center] On August 24, the 11th China Youth Science and Technology Innovation Awards Conference was held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. YSU "Parallel Robot Flexible Force Sensing and Control Technology Innovation Team" was awarded the honorary title of "Xiaoping Technology Innovation Team". A total of 50 colleges and universities across the country have won this honor. YSU is the only award-winning university in Hebei Province. This is the first time that our student team has won this remarkable honor in the national youth science and technology innovation field, and it is also a historic new breakthrough in the science and technology innovation work of our university students. Sun Chunlan, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and vice premier of the State Council, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. YSU’s "Parallel Robot Flexible Force Sensing and Control Technology Innovation Team" was led by Professor Zhao Yongsheng, and instructed by teacher Yao Jiantao and Xu Yundou, Liu Xiaofei and Zhang Hong were among the student members. Since its establishment seven years ago, the team has undertaken more than 20 scientific research projects, published more than 30 high-level papers, and applied for more than 20 national invention patents.
YSU’S “College students' innovation and entrepreneurship competition team” had organized and held 22 sessions of “Century Cup” college students' extracurricular academic and scientific works competition, 14 sessions of the “Science and Technology Cup”, and 16 sessions of the university students science and technology festival. Through the establishment of a student competition platform, YSU promotes school-enterprise cooperation, stimulates the innovation and entrepreneurship of the whole university, and continuously achieves new breakthroughs in academic and technological education, and evaluates students' competitions and technological innovations in the national “Challenge Cup” and “Creating Youth”. A solid foundation has been laid in the success of the company.
It is reported that the China Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award Fund was established based on the donation from Deng Xiaoping family. In 2004, the 100th birthday of Comrade Deng Xiaoping, according to Comrade Deng Xiaoping’s last wish, his relatives donated all his publication fees and entrusted the Communist Youth League Central Committee, the National Youth Federation, and the National Federation of Students to jointly establish a public welfare fund to encourage young people's scientific and technological innovation. So far 1099 students had received this reward. Since 2014, the award fund has supported three college students in the selection and promotion of 200 scientific and technological innovation teams in academic research, science and technology competition, and named it “Xiaoping Technology Innovation Team”. The student innovation team supported by the award fund fully represents the highest level of technological innovation at all levels.
