YSU wins awards in the National Finals of the 12th "Siemens Cup" China Intelligent Manufacturing Challenge

[News from the News Center] On August 26-29, sponsored by the Automation Teaching Advisory Board under the MoE, Siemens (China) Co., Ltd., China Simulation Society, Beijing Chemical Industry University, the 12th "Siemens Cup" China Intelligent Manufacturing in 2018 The National Finals of the Challenge (formerly “National College Student Industrial Automation Challenge”) was held at the Changping Campus of Beijing University of Chemical Technology. The three teams of our school competed with the teams of 140 colleges and universities across the country and won 2 second prizes.

With the strong support from YSU's Academic Affairs Office, the School of Electrical Engineering attaches great importance to the competition and actively organizes it. Under teacher Wang Yueling’s instruction, the YSU team participated in two competitions successively -- continuous process design and development and logic control design and development in the four-day course. They fully demonstrated YSU students’ solid professional knowledge, excellent teamwork spirit and keen analytical ability in the field. The competition also received strong support from the School of Information Science and Engineering. By participating in this competition, the students' practical ability and innovative thinking ability have been enhanced, and win honors for our university.

The “Siemens Cup” China Smart Manufacturing Challenge is a national competition signed by the MoE and Siemens Co., Ltd. It is one of the largest student competitions in the domestic industrial automation field and was included in the Quality Project funded by the MoE in 2010.

The competition is based on the principle of “Based on training, focusing on participation, engineering-oriented, and pursuing excellence”. It aims to promote the engineering practice ability education in higher education, improve students' engineering interest and literacy, engineering design ability, practical ability, engineering innovation, and engineering research and development capabilities. The competition advocates theory, practical and pragmatic style of study and the humanistic spirit of teamwork, cultivates students' comprehensive knowledge application ability, and provides a practical platform for cultivating high-quality talents of science and engineering.
