[News from the News Center] Recently, Yanshan University has been informed by the Editorial Committee of the “The Guide to Chinese Core Journals” of Peking University Library that “Journal of Yanshan University” was re-selected in the “The Guide to Chinese Core Journals (2017 edition)” after the previous selection in 2014 edition. Its new ranking #92 was greatly improved by 25 in the core journals of the comprehensive science, engineering, agricultural and medical (journals of natural sciences) which covers a total of 121 journals. Only two journals: Journal of Yanshan University and Journal of Hebei University (Natural Science Edition) were selected in Hebei Province.
Peking University Chinese core journal evaluation adopts a combination of quantitative and qualitative evaluations. The quantitative evaluation index system adopts the factor of citations, influence factor, influence factor cited by other journals, 5-year influence factor, 5-year influence factor cited by other journals, characteristic factor, paper influence score, paper cited index, and mutual index, award-winning or indexed by important search tools, the ratio of fund papers, web downloads, web download rates, etc., totally, 16 factors. The number of databases and abstracts selected as statistical indicators for evaluation indicators is up to 49, a total of 9.3 billion references evaluated relating to 13953 journals. Nearly 8,000 subject experts participated in the core journal review. After quantitative sequencing and expert qualitative review, 1981 core journals were selected from Chinese journals being published in China.
