[News from the News Center] On November 7-12, the12th“Fuli Cup” National College Student Structural Design Competitionwas held at South China University of Technology. 108 teams from 107 universities including Tsinghua University, Tongji University, Zhejiang University and Hong Kong University participated in the competition. The works designed by three YSU students, Zhang Qihao, Gao Qiang and Fu Xiuying, from theSchool of Civil Engineering and Mechanics, won the Third Prize.YSUwon the Outstanding Organization Award in this competition.
YSU team won the Third Prize of the 12thNational College Student Structural Design Competition.
In this July, the team sent by YSU theSchool of Civil Engineering and Mechanicswon the first prize in Hebei Province, and recommended to participate in the national competition. With the support of the YSU Academic Affairs Office and theSchool of Civil Engineering and Mechanics, particularly, under the guidance of teacher Zhao Jianbo, the team made a comprehensive optimization in design and the structure of the competition was finally determined. In the three-day competition, the team performed well and finally won the national third prize.

In recent years, with the support from YSU departments and schools, theSchool of Civil Engineering and Mechanics hascontinuously concentrated effort to improve students’ professional knowledge, practical ability and innovation consciousness, which contributed to remarkable achievements.
From 2005 to 2018, the12thNational College Student Structural Design Competitionhas been successfully held for 12 sessions. The competition was co-sponsored by CSEE, CollegeCivil Engineering Advisory Board, andChina Civil Engineering Society- Education Committee among other departments.The South China University of Technology hosted the national finals. The competition is one of the nine national university student competitions recognized by the Ministry of Education. It is one of the 18 undergraduate competitions that are included in the national innovation talent training and subject evaluation. The competition represents the highest level subject competition in the civil engineering discipline.
