[News from the News Center] On Nov. 17, the final of the 30th“Voice of YSU” -- campus singing competition was held at Room 109, Student Activity Center, East Campus. After heated competition, Du Yuhui from School of Civil Engineering and Mechanicswon the championship, Ji Tuo from School of Electrical Engineeringthe runner-up, and Li Yade from School of International Exchange the third place. Xiang Yifanfrom School of Electrical Engineering won the Most Popularity Award.

After the audition, the preliminary competition, and the semi-final, tencompetitors stood out successfully to the final, which was divided into four rounds.In the first round, the top ten competitorschose songs with a wide range of topics, from love songsthat touched people’s heartsto passionate dance songs,bringing a wonderful audio-visual feast for the audience with the splendid lights on the stage.In the second round, the six competitors showed their strengths, either bysoothing and melodious English songs, oraffectionate and pop songs, or passionate rock songs, all attractingcontinuous to applause and screamfrom the audience.The last round was the most exciting. Public judges,previous Top Ten singers of “Voice of YSU”, andprofessional judges voted one after another, and then the 31stchampion, runner-up, and third place finally came into being.At the last, previous and new-winning Top Ten singers performed together, pushing the performance to a climax. PreviousTop Ten singers Zhang Zhen and Zhang Qing also performed during the halftime. Invited judge Yao Bo sang the song “Ode to Swan Goose”.
Many experts were invited as professional judges, including: Han Yongbin, member of the Chinese Musicians’ Association, deputy director of the Music Creation Committee of the Hebei Musicians Association, director of the Qinhuangdao Mass Art Museum, and director of the large-scale cultural and sports activities of Qinhuangdao, Yao Bo, member of the Hebei Musicians Association, and vice chairman of the Qinhuangdao Performance Association and director of performance center at School of Art under Hebei Normal University of Science and Technology, Song Jun, associate professor and master supervisor atYSU School of Arts and Design, and instructor of YSU chorus, Wei Yuting, young singer, and excellent instructor ofNational Newcomer Singer Contest,Yan Yi, young singer, national model of art and virtue of the Ministry of Culture, member of the International Vocal Research Society, and member of the China Vocal Music Association.. The gala took the form of live broadcast and shared the song feast with the students who were not present. Many students also cheered on the competitors through WeChat, expressing their voices and their respect for the backstage staff.
