[News from the News Center] Recently, YSU officially issued the “Yanshan University the Constructing Plan of the School of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics”. On the basis of YSU’s optimization and development of disciplines and new engineering majors, YSU will coordinate related curriculum resources, practice sites, industry-university cooperation related issues in order to start the construction of the School of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics.
In responding to the needs of the new era, new science and technology, new economic development, and adapting to the needs of the new situation of national discipline construction, particularly, the development of “Double First-class” university, in 2018, YSU released the document “Notice on the Preparation of Optimizing and Adjusting Discipline Majors” in order to optimize the structure of disciplines, develop new discipline, and cultivate talents with interdisciplinary vision.
The new economy represented by new technologies, new formats, new models and new industries puts higher demands on engineering science and technology talents. It is urgent to accelerate the reform and innovation of engineering education. In order to deepen the reform of engineering education, the state has implemented new engineering construction. In October 2018, the Ministry of Education and other departments jointly issued the “Opinions on Accelerating the Construction and Development of New Engineering and Implementing the Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan 2.0”. YSU will integrates the existing professional resources and concentrates on building a new engineering specialty.
The development of the new discipline will rely on the existing ones, such as, to build robot engineering based on mechanical and electrical engineering, intelligent control and robot engineering based on automation, software engineering + and big data based on computer science and technology, and software engineering, smart material and application based on electronic information engineering and communication engineering. After the joint efforts of the relevant departments of YSU, the construction of new engineering disciplines has begun to implement the construction plan.
The optimization and adjustment of disciplines and the construction of new engineering departments have laid a good foundation for the construction of the School of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. The establishment of the School of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics is a concrete manifestation of YSU’s long-term adherence to the intensive development and the cultivation of outstanding engineering talents that meet the needs of social and economic development. It conforms to the development of national innovation and the development of artificial intelligence for new scientific and technological talents. The construction of new school demonstrates YSU’s determination to seize the historical development opportunities and lay a good foundation for YSU’s future development and “Double First-class” university construction.
