YSU won awards in the 15th China Post-Graduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling

[News from the News Center] On December 9, the results of the 2018 “HUAWEI Cup” the 15thChina Post-Graduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling were all announced. Our postgraduate students won 1 first prize, 4 second prizes and 12 third prizes. YSU received the Outstanding Organization Award. YSU was the only university in Hebei Province won the first prize.

In preparation for this competition, the Graduate School carefully deployed and coordinated, and the School of Science was responsible for the training of the contestants and the organization of the competition. The postgraduate students selected were the winners of YSU 2018 Hebei Province Mathematical Modeling Competition. A total of 263 YSU postgraduates or graduates of 89 teams participated in the contest, they were from the School ofMechanical Engineering, School of Electrical Engineering, School of Information Science and Engineering, School of Civil Engineering and Mechanics, and School of Economics and Management. The instructors are Yu Chunxiao, Wang Mingli, Zhang Yin, Li Jiandong, Song Xiangdong, Hao Yajuan, Wang Gang, Ma Xu, Ren Fuquan, Wei Chao, Nie Dongdong, Xia Maohui and Wang Zhiren. The supportive instructors and excellent YSU graduates nased on subject knowledge, with innovative ideas completed high-quality entries and won the rewards.

By participating in the competition, YSU will commit to improve students’ ability of mathematical models and use computers to solve practical problems as well as to cultivate team spirit. Our university will further provide the support of postgraduates in competitions and encourage them to participate in high-level academic competitions, which will contribute to students’ innovation and quality of education.
