[News from the News Center] From Dec. 10-12, YSU, as the secretary unit of the Engineering Subcommittee of Hebei Provincial Postgraduate Education Steering Committee (the Engineering Subcommittee), held the seminar for the provincial model postgraduate courses, professional degree teaching cases (base) and postgraduate innovation fund project compilation, which was sponsored by the Academic Degrees Committee Officeof the People’s Government of Hebei Province (the Office). More than 40 leaders and experts attended the seminar, including Zhao Qingyun, Director of the Office, Zhang Fucheng, Director of the Engineering Subcommittee and YSU Vice President, as well as the Secretaries-general, Deputy Secretaries-general and related staff other Sub-committees and some invited experts. The seminar was presided over by Ji Jialin, Deputy Director of the Office.

At the opening ceremony, Zhang Fucheng expresses his sincere gratitude to the Office, all Sub-committees, and universities for their long-term support for YSU Engineering Subcommittee, and shareshis thinking and feelings of postgraduate education in the new era. Zhang says that postgraduate education is the highest end of higher education and it should give full play to the important role of discipline construction and innovation projects of postgraduate education in the new era. Efforts should be made through compilation of provincial postgraduate demonstration courses, professional degree teaching cases (base) and postgraduate innovation fund project, in order to build anachievement-sharing platform and promote postgraduate education in Hebei Province to a new level.

Zhao Qingyun strongly affirms the work of all the Subcommittees. Zhao says that the establishment of the Subcommittees is an effective way for the Office to coordinate and communicate with the universities in Hebei. He summarizes the innovative work of the Office in 2018 and points out that the evaluation and adjustment of the degree authorized units is the core work of the discipline construction in Hebei Province. Besides, he reports the result of the selective examination of the master degree thesis in Hebei Province in 2018, and he requires all colleges and universities should pay attention to the problems in the thesis. Zhao also deploys the key work in 2019. He says that in the coming year, works will be continued relying on the Subcommittees, including the evaluation of master’s degree authorizedunits, the constructionof Hebei model professional degree base, postgraduate skill competitions, provincial discipline construction and the compilation of postgraduate innovation fund projects. It is hoped that all units can work more coordinately and push the postgraduate education in Hebei Province to a new height.

The experts review the provincial postgraduate model courses, professional degree teaching cases (base) in 2017, and the postgraduate innovation fund projects in 2015-2017, and select excellent projects, which are handed over to YSU Press for publication; the meeting also discusses and revises the “Evaluation Elements of Master’s Degree Thesis in Hebei Province”.
The leader of YSU Press introduces the compilation of postgraduate model courses, professional degree teaching cases (base) and postgraduate innovation fund project, and says that YSU Press will further cooperate with the Subcommittees and meet their requirements in order to improve the service for postgraduate education in Hebei Province.
This seminar further strengthens the communication and contact between the Office, all Sub-committees and the universities in Hebei Province, inspires new ideas for postgraduate education in Hebei Province, and further clarifies the construction norms of postgraduate model courses and professional degree teaching cases (base) and postgraduate innovation fund project. In all, it has promoted the quality of postgraduate education in Hebei Province.
