[News from the News Center] Recently, based on the solid foundation of the existing disciplines, YSU actively promotes the development of interdisciplinary in order to explore the emerging research fields, organize scientific and technological innovation activities, and cultivate high-quality innovative talents. Three institutes were established: The Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, the Institute of Marine Science and Engineering, and the Research Institute of Health Care Industrial Technology of Yanshan University.
In the field of artificial intelligence, in order to implement the national “New Generation Artificial Intelligence Development Plan”, “Three-Year Action Plan for Promoting the Development of a New Generation of Artificial Intelligence Industry (2018-2020)”and the “Innovative Action Plan for Artificial Intelligence Innovation in Colleges and Universities”, YSU has integrated the resources from six school and departments including the School of Mechanical Engineering, the School of Electrical Engineering, the School of Information Science and Engineering, the School of Science, the School of Economics and Management, and the Information Technology Center to establish the Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics of Yanshan University.
In the field of marine science and engineering, in order to implement the strategic deployment of the state’s maritime powers, and meet the needs of the key projects of Qinhuangdao’s “The 13th Five-Year Ocean Economy Demonstration City” and “Marine Environmental Safety Guarantee” and “Deep Sea Key Technologies and Equipment”, YSU has integrated the resources from relevant Schools and department including the School of Mechanical Engineering, the School of Materials Science and Engineering, the School of Electrical Engineering, the School of Information Science and Engineering, the School of Environmental and Chemical Engineering, and the School of Science, and established the Institute of Marine Science and Engineering of Yanshan University.
In the field ofHealth Careindustry technology, in order to implement the “Healthy China 2030” Planning Outline, “Several Opinions on the Development of the Aged Care Service Industry”, “Several Opinions of the State Council on the Development of the Rehabilitation Aids Industry” and “Hebei Provincial People’s Government on Important measures such as “Promoting the Development ofHealth CareIndustry” to serve the construction needs of Qinhuangdao “International Coastal Leisure Holiday City”, “International Health City” and “Beidaihe Life and Health Industry Innovation Demonstration Zone”, and integrate into the development of Qinhuangdao Health Industry. YSU integrates the resources from YSU schools including School of Mechanical Engineering, the School of Electrical Engineering, the School of Information Science and Engineering, the School of Environmental and Chemical Engineering among other departments to establish the Research Institute of Health Care Industrial Technology of Yanshan University.
The establishment of the three research institutes will provide the opportunity for our university to keep up with the national innovation and development strategy, enhance the development of traditional characteristic disciplines as well as the exploration of new research fields insomuch as the “Double First-class” construction.
