[News form the News Center] On December 26, 2018, the annual meeting of the Hebei Engineering Graduate Education Steering Committee was held at North China Institute of Science and Technology (NCIST). The conference was organized by the Graduate Education Steering Committee, jointly hosted by YSU and NCIST. The theme of the conference was to summarize the work of 2018 and prepare the work for next year, particularly to discuss the difficulties in the work of engineering graduate education.
The experts attended the conference including Ji Jialin, Deputy Director of the Office of the Academic Degrees Committee of Hebei Province, Prof. Zhang, the Chairman of the Provincial Engineering Graduate Teaching Committee and the vice President of YSU among other experts from Engineering Graduate Education Committee and sub-committee. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Zhang Fucheng, the Secretary-General of the Graduate School of Engineering and Dean of YSU Graduate School.
The conference
Professor Zhang Ruixin, President of NCIST, gave a welcome speech. Zhang Fucheng shared with the audience his reflections and understandings on the engineering graduate education in our province in line with Xi Jinping’s new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the concepts of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the reform. The higher educational institutions should keep improving the quality of engineering graduate education.
In his speech, Ji Jialin strongly affirmed the work of the engineering graduate committee. He pointed out that the engineering graduate committee has become the business card in institutions to exchange and cooperate in terms of engineering graduate education within our province. He said that the education should be connected to the province’s economic development, providing problem-oriented and accurate services, relying on the graduate teaching committee to build a platform for exchanging and sharing the valuable experiences. With multi-cooperation and various measures, the engineering graduate education work will be enhanced to a new level. Prof. Guan Yingping concluded the work of 2018 and put forward the work plan for next year.
This conference is of great significance to further clarifying tutors’ responsibilities, improving the internationalization level of postgraduate education, promoting the reform of the engineering graduate education, boosting the “Double First-class” development, and improving the quality of postgraduate education.
