[News from the News Center] On Apr. 5, Education Working Committee of Hebei Provincial Committee of CPC and Hebei Education Department released the result of the 5thHebei college counselor skills competition. YSU team won the grand prize, as well as four single prizes inthe basic knowledge and online articlewriting, the class meeting, the case analysis, and the heart-to-heart talk, and two first prizes and one second prize in theory explanation. YSU Liren College team won the first prize, ranking in the third place, as well as three single prizes in the basic knowledge and online article writing, the class situation understanding, and the class meeting, and one third prize in theory explanation. Both YSU and YSU Liren College won the Outstanding Organization Award.
Hosted by the Education Working Committee of Hebei Provincial Committee of CPC and Hebei Education Department, Hebei college counselor skills competition is held every two years by College Ideological and Political Work Team Training Center (Hebei Normal University), which is the highest level competition for counsellors in Hebei. The competition consisted of 7 sectors: basic knowledge and online article writing, class situation understanding, work performance, theory explanation, class meeting, case analysis, heart-to-heart talk, which is a little different from those in the previous years.Compared with previous competitions, the competition this yearis more abundant in its content, more suitable to the actual work of the counselors and it can better demonstrate their comprehensive quality. This competition attracted 159 counselors from 53 undergraduate universities and colleges in Hebei Province and 2 special prizes, 9 first prizes, 12 second prizes, 30 third prizes and 17 individual awards were awarded.

YSU sent six counselors to participate in the competition: Zeng Hui from the School of Science, Lu Yingfrom the School of Art and Design, Wang Nanfrom the School of Vehicle and Energy, and Li Ning, Wang Fengcheng, and Wu Fang from the Liren College. They all performed excellently in the competition. Zeng Hui, with wide knowledge, deeply analyzed the case, and won first prizesin basic knowledge and in case analysis as well as a first prize in theory explanation. Lu Ying helped the students to establish a sense of successand to take on their own responsibility, and he won a first prize in the class meetingas well as a secondprize in theory explanation. Wang Nansolved the students’ confusion with accurate grasp and application of the psychological knowledge and won a second prize in heart-to-heart talk as well as a first prize in theory explanation.Li Ning, based on her rich work experience and excellent professional ability, won three prizes in basic knowledge, class situation understanding, and class meeting, as well as a third prize in theory explanation.
From the mobilization, preliminary selection to the final competition, YSU leaders has attached great importance to it.It is the concerted effort of Student Affairs Office,allschools,think tank teams, and the competitors that brings YSU such an excellent result, which fully demonstrates the professional quality and education level of YSU counselors, showed the solidarity of YSU teams for student affairs and consolidated the foundation of the ideological and political work of YSU.
YSU has been actively implementing the spirit of the National University Ideological and Political Work Conference, and attaching great importance to the construction of the counselor team and their professional equality. YSU takes this competition as an opportunity to consolidate the work foundation of the counselor in of students’ ideological and political education, daily management, and study style construction. In recent years, manyoutstanding performances have emergedin the national and provincial counselor skill competitions and the annual selection, which contributes a lot to the personnel training. In the future, YSU will further implement the spirit of the 19thNational Congress of the CPC and the national and provincial ideological and political work conferences and National Education Conference, optimize the platform for improving the quality of counselors, and complete the task of education to further improve the ideological and political work in YSU.
