[News from the News Center] On the morning, Apr. 26, the opening ceremony of 19thWorld Intellectual Property Day activities was held in front of YSU Library, which was jointly hosted by Qinhuangdao Administration for Market Regulation, Qinhuangdao Intellectual Property Office, and YSU. Ji Zhenyong, Director of Qinhuangdao Administration for Market Regulation and Qinhuangdao Intellectual Property Office, Gao Ping, vice director of Qinhuangdao Administration for Market Regulation, Kong Xiangdong, YSU vice president, Zhao Tieshi, Director of YSU Technology Transfer Center, and Wang Yuehua, Vice Director of YSU Technology Transfer Center attended the ceremony, as well as more than 300 representatives from enterprises and volunteers.

At the ceremony, Kong Xiangdong delivered a speech on behalf of Yanshan University. He said that YSU, as a key university nationwide and one of the top universities in HebeiProvince, had always attached great importance to the protection of intellectual property rights. YSU has effectively promoted the protection of intellectual property in the university through increasing the funding and incentives and improving the patent agency services. At the same time, YSU has also greatly enhanced the technological innovation and market competitiveness of Qinhuangdao enterprises, and contributed to the economic and social development of Qinhuangdao.
At the ceremony, eminent individuals and units were awarded medals and cheque. Wang Dadong, IPR manager of CITIC Dicastal, was awarded “Advanced Individual”, YSU awarded “Advanced Unit of Intellectual Property Management Work”.Qinhuangdao Starry Special Vehicle Co., Ltd. won theHebei Provincial Patent Award. The graphics and the trademark Qinhuangdao Dicastal Sinolion Wheels Co., Ltd. were recognized as one of the “China Famous Trademarks”, and geographical indication trademarks such as “Shanhaiguan Cherry”, “Lulong Vermicelli” and “Lulong Sweet Potato” were successfully registered.
Ji Zhenyong delivered a speech at the ceremony. He said that YSU had played an important role in intellectual property in Qinhuangdao. The number of effective inventions accounts for half of the total in Qinhuangdao. Next, Qinhuangdao Intellectual Property Office will serve the work of YSU in intellectual propertyand show respect for knowledge and talents in practical ways. Ji hoped to strengthen cooperation with the university and go hand in hand to improve the intellectual property work in Qinhuangdao.
At the ceremony, YSU signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Qinhuangdao Intellectual Property Office. Based on the consensus, the two sides will establish a cooperative development mechanism for information sharing, exchange, consultation, and collaboration, focusing on publicity, protection and talent training in intellectual property rights.

Taking the 19thWorld Intellectual Property Day as an opportunity, YSU also held a series of activities such as lectures and exhibitions on intellectual property, which will further enhance the awareness of intellectual property protection among teachers and students and stimulatethe intellectual property applicationsin YSU.
