[News from the News Center] On May 12, 2019 Qinhuangdao International Marathon and National Marathon Championships kicked off. YSU Committee of the Communist Youth League organized 2000 students to volunteer in the event, and all of them have done an excellent job.
Training meeting before the event
In order to successfully complete this voluntary service, YSU has fully prepared in advance. The students also showed great enthusiasm for the marathon service, and the number of people who volunteered to participate in the activity reached a record high. On May 10, YSU organized the training meetingfor the volunteersand made detailed arrangements on the route, tasks, and precautions of the competition. In addition, the university provides sufficient guarantees for volunteers in materials and insurance, which laid a good foundation for better service of marathon.

At 3:00 am, May 12, YSU 2,000 volunteers began their “Marathon”. Having gathered on the East and West campuses, they walked to the designated service locations along the track for a total length of 10 kilometers. Li Xida, Secretary of YSU Committee of the Communist Youth League and other teachers went to the gathering places and emphasized the details ofsafetyin each section. At 5:30 in the morning, all the volunteers arrived at the designated spots. Some of them put up warning lines, some cleaned up the rubbish along the track, and some guided the pedestrians. With cooperation and enthusiasm, they actively and efficiently completed the preparation work.
At 8 o’clock, the marathon race began. Volunteers not only completed the tasks with high quality, but also actively cheered for the athletes. They showed the most beautiful smiles and good spirits of YSUyouth, and were highly praised by the organizers of the event and the athletes.
Since 2014, the Qinhuangdao International Marathon has been held for six consecutive years. The total number of volunteers from YSU participating in this event has reached more than 9,500. YSU Committee of the Communist Youth League has always been committed to cultivating young students who have a good and all-round moral, intellectual, physical, and aesthetical grounding in addition to a hardworking spiritin the new era, and always actively organizes young students to participate in the voluntary servicesin Qinhuangdao, contributing to the construction of a beautiful port city.
