[News from the News Center] From May 18-19, the 9th China Petroleum Engineering Design Competition was held in Beijing. In this competition, YSU won 3 national second prizes (2 in the comprehensive group and 1 in the innovation group) and 8 national third prizes (2 in the comprehensive group, 2 in the innovation group, 4 in the individual group), and 7 encouraging awards. Among them, the team “Golden and Vigorous” composed of Wei Qiang, Li Baozhen, Tian Chongyang and Wu Leijie, and the team “Shenzhou First Team” composed of Zhang Wenbo, Yan Meirong, Jiang Lu and Hou Jialin won the national second prize in the Comprehensive Group respectively. And “Bohai Innovation Team-6” won the national second prize of the Innovation Group. Li Zifeng, Yang Manping, Li Jingyuan, Li Guanghui and Fan Jie won the “Excellent Instructor” in this competition. Teacher Zheng Liming won the title of “Eminent Individual” in the competition.
The theme of this year’s competition is “New era, New dreams”, selecting “Sand conglomerate reservoirs to gather and improve production” as the competition question. The competition has been attracting more than 30 universities and research institutes at home and abroad, more than 2,000 teams signing up for the competition, a total of 1261 works were submitted, of which 729 were valid works, and 78 works were recommended to the national finals.

The China Petroleum Engineering Design Competition is an academic competition sponsored by the China National Committee of the World Petroleum Council, the China Petroleum Institute and the China Petroleum Education Association, and organized by China University of Petroleum (Beijing). The competition was strongly supported by China National Petroleum Corporation, China Petrochemical Corporation, China National Offshore Oil Corporation and Schlumberger. In the past nine years, the competition has always adhered to the principles of fairness, justice and openness, integrating academic, creative and communicative functions, providing an academic platform for the petroleum students of all major universities across the country to learn from each other.
