[News from the News Center] From May 24-26, the 2019 National College Student Digital Design Competition for Mechanical Products was held in Wuhan. The three entries from our university in the national finals won the first prize of the competition, which achieved the best results we have ever had.
From the notice of the competition, the student participants used their spare time to carefully design and continuously optimize the entries. In order to improve the quality of the projects, the School of Mechanical Engineering organized teachers to conduct multiple rounds of selection and review for all entries. At the final stage, through the on-site oral defense and design & production, with the cooperation with each other, the entries of our university were awarded first prizes in the national finals: self-locking transmission seven-point feet massager (participants: Li Yingchao, He Yuhang, Li Jianing, instructor: Shi Xiaohua), “Xunkang” rehabilitation robot (participants: Bai Yinming, Kang Yansong, Lian Sheng, instructor: Dong Zhikui, Li Yanwen) and elbow wrist rehabilitation robot (Participants: Zou Jiajun, Wang Libin, Cui Zhongyu, instructor: Bian Hui).

The 2019 National College Student Digital Design Competition for Mechanical Products is an annual event sponsored by the Ministry of Education’s Mechanical Discipline Teaching Steering Committee and the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center. It has been held for nine consecutive years. The competition aims to cultivate students’ innovative design awareness, comprehensive design ability and teamwork spirit; strengthen the engineering practice, improve students’ ability of carrying out mechanical design through innovative thinking; attract and encourage students to participate actively.
In this competition, 113 teams from 44 universities including Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Tongji University and Xi’an Jiaotong University. The theme of the competition is “Considerate Service”, including the design of rehabilitation service robots, the design of elderly service robots, the design of home service robots and the lunar camp robots. By participating in this competition, students’ comprehensive ability was improved, which also demonstrated the first-class teaching quality of our university.
