[News from the News Center] From May 27-29, the major of Computer Science and Technology of YSU School of Information Science accepted the on-site examination of the Engineering Education Professional Certification.
On the morning of May 28, Vice President Zhao Yongsheng and Ren Jiadong, the relevant heads and directors of department and school, and representatives of professional teachers attended the certification meeting. Zhao Yongsheng briefed the expert group on the development of the professional certification work of our university and the support for the certification profession committee. The expert group listened to the report of the professional head Zhang Shihui on the top-level design of OBE, the support of course design, curriculum design, and practice internship for the requirement of graduation. The representatives of professional teachers, and heads of related functional departments have answered and explained the problems raised by the expert group on non-technical ability training, training of young teachers, teaching funding, revision of training programs, and follow-up evaluation of students’ learning process.

After the meeting, the expert team conducted a field examination on the library, the university physics experiment center, the electronic experiment center, the engineering training center and the professional laboratory. During the three-day on-site examination, the expert group conducted interviews with students, graduates, representatives of employers, representatives of relevant teachers, and relevant directors of functional departments. The expert group also reviewed the teaching materials and teaching management documents such as professional training programs, course syllabus, graduation design, course teaching quality evaluation materials, and in-depth understanding of the training of certified professionals.

On the afternoon of May 29, at the certification feedback meeting, the expert group gave feedback on the site inspection, strongly affirmed the relevant situation of the certification profession and gave their feedback to some aspects relating to student learning process evaluation, the analysis of graduation requirements index points, the curriculum system. The participants of our university listened carefully to the feedback from the expert group. Zhao Yongsheng, on behalf of our university, thanked the expert group for their hard work. He believed that the expert feedbacks are comprehensively and objectively, which would contribute to the construction of the major certified.
The major of Computer Science and Technology have passed the engineering education professional certification in 2016, and validity for 3 years. This field examination is for the review of the professional certification. The directors and heads of the department have attracted great importance to the preparation of the field examination and substantial work has been done accordingly. Other majors such as Chemical Engineering and Process and Measurement, Control Technology and instrumentation will also be reviewed in the near future.
