YSU wins awards in the 8th National College Student Metallurgy Skills Competition

[News from the News Center] From July 25-30, the 8th National College Student Metallographic Skills Competition was held in Changshu Institute of Technology, Changshu City, Jiangsu Province. 255 teams from 254 colleges and universities such as Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, University of Science and Technology, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, and Beijing University of Science and Technology, 765 undergraduate students and more than 500 instructors participated in the competition. After three days of fierce competition, three undergraduate students from YSU School of Materials Science and Engineering won one First Prize (Teng Sishi of Grade 2017, majoring in metal materials engineering) and two Second Prize (Wang Dainan of Grade 2017, majoring in material physics; Lu Yujia majoring in polymer material and engineering major, and won Group Third Prize. YSU teachers Wang Yuefeng and Wang Yichen won the “Excellent Instructor” award.

The National College Student Metallurgy Skills Competition is hosted by the Materials Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education. It is a professional skill competition for students majoring in materials science and engineering in China. The competition aims to improve the experimental skills of college students majoring in materials. Hands-on ability, stimulating the interest and motivation of college students to learn, consolidate and strengthen professional knowledge, and also provide a practical platform for teachers and students of the national material disciplines to exchange and learn, which is beneficial to further change the teaching concept of emphasizing theory over practice.
