[News from the News Center] On August 24, the 2019 China University Computer Contest-Big Data Challenge final was held at Tsinghua University. The software engineering undergraduate team (members including Liu Yakun, Wu Yue, Zhuang Kai) instructed by Feng Jianzhou, won awards including the fifth place in the final and the second prize of the national competition.

The whole competition is divided into two stages, the preliminary stage and the final stage. It lasted for more than three months. 10 teams with the highest scores in the preliminary competition attended the final. The academician Sun Jiaguang of the Chinese Academy of Engineering was invited to the competition site. The judges came from Tsinghua University and Nankai University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Institute of Computing, Chinese Academy of Sciences and other famous universities and research institutions.
The China University Computer Contest is jointly sponsored by the Computer-based Professional Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, the Software Engineering Professional Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, the University Computer Education Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, and the Computer Education Research Association of the National Higher Education Institute. The Big Data Challenge, which has been included in the list of national colleges and universities’ subject competitions has received wide appraise and attention from the society.
The competition is open to students from all over the world. It aims to improve the algorithm research and technology application ability of college students for data analysis and processing, and explore the core scientific and technical issues of big data, try to innovate big data technology, and promote the production and study of big data.
