[News from the News Center] Forty years of hard work, YSU School of Economics and Management (SEM) celebrated its 40th anniversary. In 40 years, we have seen the development of the SEM. It graspsopportunities to reform and strengthen its competitiveness, and continuously provide 12,000 talents in economic and management to our society. From September 29-30, representatives from all walks, government, industry, and academia, and representatives of YSU teachers and students and alumni gathered in YSU to celebrate SEM’S 40th anniversary.
At 15:00 on the 29, the “New Starting Point, New Leap” YSU SEM's 40th Anniversary Celebration was held in Student Activity Center, East Campus. Yi Zhihong,Vice Chairman of the Business Administration Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education and former Vice President of Renmin University of China, Liu Zhixin, Vice Chairman of the Hebei Provincial Committee of the Jiu San Society and Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People's Congress, Lian Ruyan, Deputy Mayor of Qinhuangdao, Tian Yunshan, Deputy General Manager of Hebei Port Group, Li Hanling, member of the Teaching Discipline Committee of the Ministry of Education and former Dean of the School of Management, Harbin Institute of Technology.
Zhu Fangwei, Dean of School of Economics and Management, Dalian University of Technology; Xu Changyong, Party Secretary of School of Economics and Management, Hebei University of Technology; Su Feng, Dean of School of Management, Northeastern University, Qinhuangdao; Zou Zhendong, Party Secretary, Dean Chu Zhaopeng, and Deputy Dean Li Gang of Northeastern University, Qinhuangdao School of Economics; Lei Zhenhai, Party Secretary, Deputy Dean Lv Zhenyu and Deputy Dean Cao Zhihui of School of Management, North China University of Technology among guests from other universities, and YSU leadership, about 1,300 people from the School of Economics and Management attended the celebration.
Li Chunling, Dean of the SEM gave a report on behalf of SEM on 40 years development. The 40-year achievement has been the joint efforts of government, industry, and academia. She analyzed the future problems and new challenges in the process of development of SEM, and proposed the future development strategy of “based in Hebei, serving the country and aim at world”.
Zhao Xianfeng, YSU Party Secretary, delivered a speech on behalf of our university. Zhao Xianfeng first expressed his congratulations to all the teachers, students and alumni of the School of Economics and Management, and expressed his gratitude to friends from all walks for their supports.He briefly reviewed the history of the School of Economics and Management, and emphasized the important position of the School of Economics and Management in the current academic disciplines. He pointed out that the SME has educated a large number of high-quality talents for the society and made outstanding contributions to economic and social development. He asked SEM to shoulder the mission of the times and historical responsibility, to contribute to the construction of “Double- First Class”.
Guests gave their speeches respectively to credit the enormous achievements and contribution SEM have made to the generations of people of SEM. Tian Yunshan, Deputy General Manager of Hebei Port Group, delivered a speech on behalf of the business community. He said that YSU-SEM and Hebei Port Group have maintained fruitful cooperation in scientific research, personnel training and social services. We would like to work together to make greater contributions to our province and Qinhuangdao City.
Some peer school and universities, School of Economics and Management, Harbin Institute of Technology, School of Accounting, Central University of Finance and Economics, School of Accounting, Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, School of Management, China University of Petroleum, School of Business, Beijing Technology and Business University among others and more than 100 representatives from home and abroad from the United States, Canada, Brazil, the United Kingdom and other provinces and cities such as Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Hebei, Xinjiang, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jilin, Liaoning have sent videos to express their heartfelt congratulations to SEM.

In recognition of the outstanding contributions made during the construction and development of SEM, “Lifetime Contribution Award” was granted to ten professors including Fang Shufen, Niu Fulan, Gao Qixun, Cong Yan, Song Xiaozhong, Guan Xiaoguang, Wang Guozhi, Chen Yehua, Song Zhijie and Yu Weiyang. “Disciplines Construction” award was granted to Gao Qixun, Guan Xiaoguang, Weng Gangmin, Zhang Yaming, Zang Xiuqing, Liu Xinjian, Qi Jingmin, Yuan Xumei and other eight professors.
At the end of the celebration, Yu Shujiang, YSU Vice President, Wu Fengqing, Deputy Party Secretary of SEM, and alumni representatives jointly started the ball for the selection of “40 at 40”. People that are selected will be invited to return to school in 2020 for YSU’S Centennial Celebration.
