[News from the News Center] Recently, the winners list of the National College Student Mathematical Modeling Competition was released. YSU students have achieved outstanding results: winning 1 national first prize and 7 second prizes.

Over the years, YSU has attached great importance to the work of organization and training of mathematical modeling competitions. The mathematical modeling competition is very influential in students. In order to better promote the mathematical modeling competition and select the contestants for the national competition, YSU held the 6th Yanshan University Mathematical Modeling Competition in April this year with the support of the Academic Affairs Office, the Youth League Committee and the some departments. More than 1,000 students participated in the university competition and received funding from the Huawei Seeds Program. In the competition of Hebei Province, our school won 12 first prizes in Hebei Province and 22 excellent results in second prizes.
The competition in session
The National College Student Mathematical Modeling Contest was founded in 1992. It has become the largest undergraduate academic competition in the universities nationwide. It is also the largest mathematical modeling competition in the world. It is one of the four major competitions for college students sponsored by the Ministry of Education. It is a comprehensive competition that uses mathematics and computer and other related knowledge to solve practical problems. Through the competition, students’ abilities of autonomy, innovation and teamwork have been greatly improved.
The competition attracted 42992 teams and nearly 130,000 students from 1490 colleges and universities home and abroad.
