[News from the News Center] In celebrating the 100thanniversary of Yanshan University, our university held the 5th International Conference on Smart Finance（ICSF2020）through a combination of online and offline activities from August 21 to 22. The ICSF2020 was jointly organized by the YSU School of Economics and Management, the School of Information Technology of Renmin University of China, the School of Economics and Management of Beijing University of Technology, and the Global Internet Finance Center of City University of Hongkong.
Ren Jiadong, the standing committee member of CPC Yanshan University Committee and Vice President, attended the opening ceremony of the conference and delivered a speech. More than 200 representatives from the United States, Canada, Pakistan, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and other countries and regions attended the conference. Prof. Li Chunling from YSU School of Economics and Management and Prof. Zhao Jianliang from the School of Business of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) took the chair of the conference.In his speech, Ren Jiadong briefed the overview of current Yanshan University to the participants. He hoped that the participants could take this opportunity to expand the scope of academic exchange and develop in-depth cooperation with our university.

This conference invited internationally renowned experts in the field of smart finance, including Prof. Karl Reiner Lang from the City University of New York, Prof. Eric Zheng from the University of Texas at Dallas, and Prof. Michael Zhang from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Prof. Zhang Wei, the team leader of the MoE “Innovation Team”, the deputy director of NSFC in Management Science sector, and the first director of the Faculty of Management and Economics, Prof. Ye Qiang, the MoE “Distinguished Professor of Changjiang Scholar”, the recipient of the “National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars” and the “Wu-Jiapei Award of China Information Economics”, and the Dean of the School of Economics and Management of Harbin Institute of Technology, and Prof. Yuan Xianzhi from the School of Management ofSun Yat-sen University, he is also the CRO and vice President of BBD, and the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Financial Engineering. In the sub-forums, the representatives of the conference respectively reported on the theory and application of blockchain, including the pyramidal Markov process in selfish mining of blockchain, the use of blockchain supply chain financing, and the application of blockchain technology in the applied research of the port supply chain finance, a new computational trust framework for fraud detection in blockchain projects, and a theoretical mechanism for fair inspection and safe delivery of content-based digital products; AI and financial applications, including corporate knowledge graphs for corporate fraud detection, cross-departmental decentralized measurement of machine learning method to predict volatility, new deep learning methods for detecting auto insurance fraud, equity incentives to promote market value management of listed companies, the analysis framework of bank direct marketing behavior with in-depth learning model; Fintech and applications, including the role of images in the success of crowdfunding projects, precautions and classification of digital currencies, social media signals in the cryptocurrency market, the pledged financing game of accounts receivable of SMEs in the supply chain and other hot issues in the field of smart finance in the world.

In order to promote the integration of industry and education, the conference invited five industry and academic elites to share their wisdom, including Dr. Li Zhijie, the National Leading Talent of the Ministry of Finance of China, Chairman of BIMG Institute, Co-Director of the Institute of Financial Technology and Blockchain Big Data Research of Renmin University of China, Ms. Zhang Boshu, Data Engineer of JD Digital, Mr. Han Yaoci, product manager of Risk Management Department of China Everbright Bank, Dr. Zhang Qi, a data engineer at headquarter of China Merchants Bank, and Prof. Li Jian from the School of Economics and Management of Beijing University of Technology.
At the closing meeting, the conference announced the winners of the annual conference excellent papers. On behalf of the conference, Prof. Zhao Jianliang from the Chinese University of Hong Kong expressed his thanks to YSU for successfully hosting the conference during the period of the normalization of the epidemic prevention and control, and offered blessings for YSU's 100th anniversary.
The International Conference on Smart Finance (ICSF) is an academic exchange platform on smart finance, which facilitates in-depth academic discussions and practical exchanges among financial industry leaders, scientific researchers and government officials on how to use modern technology to develop smart finance. Since 2016, the international conference has been held in Hong Kong (2016), Guangzhou (2017, 2018), and Beijing (2019).
