YSU holds the New Think Tank Forum of the Northeast Asian Silk Road Civilization Research Center

[News from the News Center] On the afternoon of September 18, theming the “Research on Ancient Silk Road Civilization in Northeast Asia”, YSU “New Think Tank Forum of the Northeast Asian Silk Road Civilization Research Center” was held online. The main venue was in the Lecture Hall on the 18th floor of the Century Building of Yanshan University. More than 300 scholars from relevant research institutes and universities attended the forum activities online and offline respectively.

The opening ceremony of the forum was presided over by Wang Desong, YSU Vice President. Zhao Xianfeng,YSU Party Secretary, delivered a speech at the forum.He said that the forum was an important part of the University’s centennial celebration. He briefly introduced the history and development of the University, as well as the achievements of the new think tank and the Northeast Asia Ancient Silk Road Civilization Research Center. He also said that the University would introduce specific document to continuously strengthen the building of our university’s new think tanks and to improve the ability of consultation in order to better serve the national and local social and economic development. The University would provide full support to the Northeast Asia Ancient Silk Road Civilization Research Center to carry out research in the fields of maritime border and maritime right of Northeast Asia, as well as Northeast Asian ethnic groups. The Center is expected to be built into a domestic leading and internationally influential platform of humanities and social sciences, a talent cultivation base, and a characteristic think tank where major academic and quality think tank achievements are produced. The achievements will contribute to the construction of “Double First-Class” university, and promote the deeper integration of Hebei Province into “The Belt and Road Initiatives”.

Zhou Guihua, Director of the Information Division of the Research Office of the People’s Government of Hebei Province, warmly congratulated YSU on hosting the forum online. He said that YSU’s research, inheritance and dissemination of the Silk Road civilization in Northeast Asia would surely convey the spirit of peace and cooperation to the world. The new Silk Road spirit of openness, tolerance, mutual learning, and mutual benefit is a successful practice of building an economically strong and beautiful Hebei Province. This is also a major contribution to the realization of the dream of national rejuvenation, prosperity, and happy life for Chinese people. The Research Office would take the forum as an opportunity to strengthen academic exchanges and research cooperation with YSU through various effective joint efforts.

Prof. Gao Fushun from Jilin University among other scholars make keynote reports online, including Li Baocai, researcher and Director of Museum Department of Hebei Provincial Bureau of Cultural Relics; Li Dalong, doctoral supervisor, Editor of China Frontier Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Director and chief editor of the editorial department of the journalChina Borderland History and Geography Studies;Li Deshan, Director and doctoral supervisor of the Institute of Ancient Books Collection of Northeast Normal University; Li Xiulian, professor of Qiqihar University; Li Zhiting, member of the National Qing History Compilation Committee and an expert on the Ming and Qing history; Yang Fuxue, Director of Humanities Research Department of Dunhuang Research Institute and doctoral supervisor; Yu Fengchun, professor and doctoral supervisor of Zhejiang Normal University; and Zhou Xifeng, professor of Heilongjiang University. They attended the forum and gave plenary reports on “An Analysis of the Concept of National Security of Emperor Liao Taizu’s Consolidation and Domination”, “Silk Cultural Relics in Hebei Archaeology: Important Discoveries of the Silk Passage in Northeast Asia”, “Dynasty State to Sovereign State: From the Perspective of Territorial Discourse Construction”, among other valuable topics.

Liu Jintang, Vice Chairman of QHD Municipal Association of Social Sciences, Huo Chunming, Head of Research Office of the QHD Municipal Party committee, as well as heads of relevant departments and student representatives attended the forum, departments including the University Office, the United Front Work Department of the Party Committee, the Graduate School, the Institute of Science and Technology, the Office of Social Sciences, the Library, the Higher Education Development Research Center, the Journal Press, and Yanshan University Press.

YSU New Think Tank Forum of the Northeast Asian Silk Road Civilization Research Center jointly organized by the Northeast Asian Silk Road Civilization Research Center and the Office of Social Sciences is a one of the important events of the University’s centennial anniversary. This forum following the establishment of the Northeast Asia Ancient Silk Road Civilizations Research Center and the Museum of Northeast Asia Ancient Silk Road Civilizations adds to our achievements in new think thank and Northeast Asian Silk Road civilizations research. This forum received substantial support from the China Education Online and Academic Bridge respectively. In the future, by responding to the needs of national development and serving the economic and social development of Hebei Province, our university will further promote the research and academic exchanges of the Northeast Asia Ancient Silk Road civilizations and produce more major academic achievements and quality think tank contributions.
