According to the Notice of the General Office of the Ministry of Education on Publishing the List of Key Construction Points of National and Provincial First-class Undergraduate Majors in 2021 (JGTH [2022] No.14) recently issued by the Ministry of Education, 8 majors of YSU such as E-commerce, Building Environment and Energy Application Engineering, Information and Computing Science, Law, Public Utilities Management, Environmental Engineering, Bioengineering and Product Design have been approved as key construction points of national first-class undergraduate majors in 2021. YSU has so far operated 34 key construction points of national first-class undergraduate majors and 60% of enrollment majors have been selected as the key construction points of national first-class undergraduate majors; except the newly established majors, 69% of the enrollment majors are selected as the key construction points of national first-class undergraduate majors, where 100% of the enrollment majors of School of Materials Science and Engineering and School of Information Science and Engineering, 100% of the enrollment majors except the newly-established majors in School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Electrical Engineering, School of Environmental and Chemical Engineering and School of Humanities and Law, 80% of the enrollment majors of School of Economics and Management except the newly-established majors, 67% of the enrollment majors of School of Science, and 50% of the enrollment majors of School of Civil Engineering and Mechanics were selected as the key construction points of national first-class undergraduate majors.
In recent years, YSU has fully implemented the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, thoroughly carried out the spirit of the National Education Conference, adhered to the principle of “taking undergraduate education as the foundation”, and strived to improve the quality of undergraduate education and insisted on the concept of “student-centered, output-oriented, continuous improvement” to constantly promote the connotation building of majors, deepen the construction of “New Sciences and New Liberal Arts” and strengthen the cross-integration of disciplines and specialties.
In the next step, YSU will be committed to satisfying the national strategic needs and social development needs, actively serving the national and regional development strategies, improving the dynamic adjustment mechanism of majors under guidance of the construction of first-class majors, deepen the education mechanism based on integration of industry and universities, improving the quality assurance system of majors, actively building a new pattern of undergraduate education with coordinated development of first-class majors, first-class courses, first-class teachers and first-class teaching materials, giving full play to the “demonstration and leading” role of first-class undergraduate majors, continuously improving the quality of undergraduate education, and realizing the connotative development of higher education.
