International Students’Enrollment Instructions

Yanshan University

Yanshan University is located at the historic tourist city of Qinhuangdao, 260 km northeast of the capital city Beijing.QHD is famous for its mild climate and beautiful coastline. UNESCOW orld Cultural Heritage site the Great Wall of China starts from here. The Shanhai Pass, The Old Dragon Head and the summer resort Beidaihe Beach put Qinhuangdao on the map as one of the top 40 tourist attractions in China.

Programs

Ⅰ. Short-term Chinese Language Program

Short-term language programs usually start in July and lasts for three weeks, with 26class hours per week. According to the student requirements and their Chinese language proficiency, the courses includes comprehensive Chinese, Chinese listening comprehension,speaking, and Chinese culture.

Ⅱ. Long-term Chinese Language Program

A long-term Chinese language program begins in March(Spring Semester)and September (Fall Semester) respectively. The duration of each program can be one semester, one year, or two years. These programs cover five different proficiency levels: elementary level（I and II）,intermediate level（I and II）,and advanced level. After a certain period of learning, international students may apply for HSK examinations.

Major courses for long-term Chinese language learners include:Comprehensive Chinese, Chinese speaking, Chinese Listening Comprehension, Chinese Reading,Chinese Culture, Business Chinese, Audio-visual Chinese,and HSK Intensive Training etc.

Ⅲ. Degree Programs

International students who have obtained HSK certificates at a required level can apply for Bachelor, Master and Doctoral degree programs at Yanshan University.

For some Master’sand Doctoral programs, the courses are instructed in English.

Application Information/How to apply

Ⅰ.Applicationprerequisites

For Bachelor’s degree Program

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a foreign passport.

2. Applicants must have a high school certificate.

3. Applicants must be between 16 and 60 years old.

4. Applicants must be in good health.

For Master’s degree Program

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a foreign passport and be in good health;

2. Applicants for master’s degree program must have a diploma of bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

3. Applicants must be under the age of 40.

For Doctoral Degree

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a foreign passport and be in good health;

2. Applicants for doctoral degree program must have a diploma of master’s degree or equivalent.

3. Applicants must be under the age of 45.

II.Procedures of Application and Enrollment

1.Applicantsshould submit the following materials to theCollege of International Exchange:

(a)Application form for International students to study at Yanshan University with a photograph of the applicant; (download)

(b) Curriculum vitae or resume(download)

(c) Certified educational records, degree certificates or diplomas in the original language with Chinese or English translations;

(d)Copy of applicant’s passport (the photo page)

(e) Physical examination form forforeigners (download)

(f)Application fee:400 RMBfor language programs; 600 RMB for undergraduate programs; 800 RMB application feeforMaster and Doctoral degree programs. (Application fee should be paid after enrollment and arrival.).

Besides theafore mentioned materials, international students who apply for undergraduate programs should also provide academic recordof high school education, a photocopy of HSK-4certificate and two letters of recommendation. Students who apply for Master’sor Doctoral degrees should provide academic record of undergraduate and Master studies respectively, a photocopy of HSK-4certificate, personal statement and letter of recommendation from two associated professors or professors.

2. ApplicationDeadline:

（1）Language programs：Application Materials submitted for spring semester are due on Dec.30^th. Application Materials submitted for autumn semester are due on Jun.30^th.

（2）Undergraduate programs：Jun.30^th.

（3）Master and Doctoral degree programs：Apr.30^th.

3.The application documents will be reviewed and evaluated. The admission letter and JW202 Visa Application Form will be sent to qualified applicants.    

4. Successful applicants will receive Admission Letter and JW202 Visa Application Form for the convenience of visa application.Students can apply for a student visa at the Chinese Embassy orConsulate in their country with these documents.

5.Successful applicantsmust register on the day stipulated in theAdmission Letter.Applicants who can not register at the university on time must inform the College of International Exchange in advance. A failure to register on time will result in cancel ation of candidature to study at the university.

Note:Each applicant is required to provide four2-inch photos (passport size) and six1-inch photos when registering at the university.
