Discipline Building and Research Achievements

The SISE comprises the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, the Department of Optoelectronic Engineering, the Department of Software Engineering, as well as six majors, including Computer Science and Technology (a national key specialtyin development), Electronic and Communication Engineering (a national key specialtyin development), Communication Engineering, Electronic Science and Technology (a national key specialtyin development), Optoelectronic Information Science and Engineering, and Software Engineering. The school also has two post-doctoral stations; one focusing on Computer Science and Technology, and the other on Electronic Science and Technology. The SISE has been authorized to confer doctorates in the first-level disciplines of Computer Science and Technology, Electronic Science and Technology, and Optical Engineering, and confer Master’sdegrees in the first-level disciplines of Computer Science and Technology, Electronic Science and Technology, Optical Engineering, and Information and Communication Engineering, as well as three Masters of Engineering degrees, namely Computer Technology, Optical Engineering, and Electronics and Communication Engineering. The SISE has three key specialties at provincial and ministerial levels, including Computer Application Technology, Optical Engineering, and Circuits and Systems. The school has four provincial key laboratories, including the Laboratory of Computer Virtual Technology and System Integration, the Laboratory of Special Optical Fiber and Optical Fiber Sensing, the Laboratory of Software Engineering, and the Laboratory of Transmission and Signal Processing Terminal. The SISE also provides the normal National Defense Discipline in Military Computer Application Technology. The school’s discipline of Computer Science has recently been ranked in the top1% of ESI for the first time.

The SISE hasundertaken47 national research projects, including 2 National Key R&D Projects, 1 National Science and Technology Key Special Project, 1 National Key Development of Scientific Research Instrument, 1 Key NSFC project, 1 Key National Defense project, as well as other 180 projects including 21 NSFC projects, and 28projects funded byNatural Science Foundation of Hebei Province. Faculty members have published over 590 academic papers, of which 230 are SCI, EI, ISTP papers.
