In June 2010, YSU became one of the first of a batch of pilot universities to implement the “Education and Training Plan for Excellent Engineers” program; the Electronic and Information Engineering major being selected in the first batch of pilot majors. In 2016, theSISE’s Electronic Information Engineering major received official approval from international experts at Washington Accord, supporting China in formally joining the Washington Accord International Engineering Education Organization. The SISE now has 3596 undergraduates, 872postgraduates, and 118 PhD candidates. The school attaches great importance to the development of students’ practical abilities and, as such, has organized students to participate in a variety of competitions, resulting in won 56 national prizes and 106 provincial prizes. The rate of student participation ina variety of“Double Innovation” competitions at all levels has reached 100%.
