On the morning of April 12, the Conference of Hebei Science and Technology Award was grandly held in Shijiazhuang. Wang Dongfeng, Secretary of Hebei Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Standing Committee of the Hebei Provincial People's Congress, attended the conference and delivered an important speech. Wang Zhengpu, Deputy Secretary of Hebei Provincial Party Committee and Governor of Hebei, presided over the conference. Lian Yimin, Deputy Secretary of Hebei Provincial Party Committee, and other leaders attended the conference. The delegates who won the Hebei Science and Technology Award 2021 were commended in the conference, and Professor Liu Riping of YSU spoke as the representative of award winners. A total of 20 S&T achievements of YSU, of which 15 were presided over by YSU and 5 were attended by YSU, were granted awards, including 1 outstanding contribution award, 4 first prizes, 5 second prizes, 5 third prizes, and including 1 first prize, 2 second prizes and 2 third prizes, respectively. After the number of first prizes reached a record in 2020, the total number and grade of awards set a new record in 2021.

Among the award-winning achievements (people), Professor Liu Riping from the School of Materials Science and Engineering won the Outstanding Contribution Award for Science and Technology, "Construction of High-performance Permanent Magnet Materials with Low Rare Earth Content" presided over by Professor Zhang Xiangyi from the School of Materials Science and Engineering, and "Chemical Design of Carbon-based Supercapacitor Materials and Pseudocapacitance Enhancement Mechanism" presided over by Professor Gao Faming from the School of Environmental and Chemical Engineering won the first prize of natural science. "Zirconium/Titanium Alloying Design and Engineering Application in Extreme Service Environment" presided over by Professor Liu Riping from the School of Materials Science and Engineering won the first prize of technical invention, and "Key Technologies and Applications of Intelligent Modeling and Optimal Control of Blast Furnace for Energy Saving, Emission Reduction and Quality Improvement" presided over by Professor Hua Changchun from the School of Electrical Engineering won the first prize of S&T progress.
Hebei Science and Technology Award is one of the most important symbols representing the basic scientific research ability and comprehensive scientific research strength of the institutions in Hebei Province, and it is also an important indicator of "Double First-class" construction and discipline evaluation. YSU has always attached great importance to the organization and cultivation of Hebei Science and Technology Award. In 2021, YSU applied for 33 science and technology awards in Hebei Province by virtue of the organization and planning of YSU, the active mobilization of the schools and the careful preparation of relevant scientific research teams, the number of applications reached a record, and the application potential was fully tapped. YSU organized the on-campus demonstration of the award-applying projects, and strived to improve the application quality, which laid a solid foundation for the post-evaluation work. YSU has won a number of high-level science and technology awards in Hebei Province, fully reflecting the strength and level of YSU in S&T circles of Hebei Province, and YSU will continue to make every effort to fully assist the "Double First-class" development and construction.

It is reported that the Hebei Science and Technology Award was established by the People's Government of Hebei Province, focusing on rewarding S&T personnel and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to the S&T progress, economic and social development of Hebei Province. After formal review, network review, industry review, general evaluation and defense, a total of 259 science and technology awards (individuals) in Hebei Province in 2021 were given, including 2 outstanding contribution awards for science and technology, 21 natural science awards (3 first prizes, 7 second prizes and 11 third prizes), 18 technical invention awards (3 first prizes, 6 second prizes and 9 third prizes), and 214 S&T progress awards (23 first prizes, 78 second prizes and 113 third prizes), and 4 S&T cooperation awards.
