Recently, the results of all prizes of the 2023 Mathematical Contest in Modeling/Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling (MCM/ICM) have been announced. Students from Yanshan University won 2 Meritorious Winner prizes and 3 Honorable Mention prizes.

The contest was greatly supported by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education and Guidance Center and the Office of International Cooperation (Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs) of Yanshan University, as well as the help and support of the participating schools. The excellent contest results couldn't have been achieved without the care and guidance of the leaders of the School of Science and the hard work of the school's organization and instruction team of the mathematical contest in modeling. The instructors actively organized students to register and carried out online training during the winter vacation for exchanges and discussion among the contestants, so as to galvanize their enthusiasm for the training and the contest. During the competition, the students overcame all difficulties with team spirit, submitted their papers on time, and finally achieved excellent results.
Mathematical Contest in Modeling/Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling (MCM/ICM), sponsored by the Consortium for Mathematics and Its Applications (COMAP), is the only international mathematical contest in modeling. The MCM/ICM is the originator of all mathematical modeling contests today, and the most influential mathematical modeling contest in the world. The contest covers many fields such as economy, management, environment, resources, ecology, medicine, and security. This edition of the MCM/ICM is divided into winter and spring competitions, attracting 20,858 teams from universities worldwide. The competition requires three undergraduates to form a group, choose a designated question, and complete all the work from modeling, solution, and verification to thesis writing within four days. It aims to inspect the contestants' ability to study and solve problems and their team spirit.
