On the morning of July 8, the opening ceremony of the 12th International Symposium of Quantitative Economics 2023 was held in the Student Activity Center of Yanshan University’s West Campus. The symposium was co-sponsored by Jilin University and Yanshan University. Zhao Dingxuan, President of Yanshan University, Li Xuesong, Director of the Chinese Association of Quantitative Economics, and Zhao Jun, Party Secretary of the School of Business and Management of Jilin University, addressed the opening ceremony. Zhao Dingxuan said in his speech that Yanshan University highly values the latest progress in quantitative economics theories and methods and their application in economic and financial fields. In recent years, the university has carried out quantitative economics research and talent training work to meet major national development strategic needs such as the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the establishment of the Xiongan New Area. Zhao Dingxuan expressed the hope that this international symposium will serve as a global high-level academic exchange platform for experts and scholars engaged in various fields of quantitative economics, and promote exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and foreign scholars. Yanshan University is willing to work with experts and scholars in all fields of quantitative economics to jointly contribute to the development of international quantitative economics.

Zhao Jun, on behalf of the scholars who attended the symposium, thanked the School of Economics and Management of Yanshan University for its efforts in holding this event. He reviewed the development of the School of Business and Management, quantitative economics discipline and the Center for Quantitative Economics of Jilin University, and introduced the preparation work for this international academic conference.
With the theme of "Development and Transformation, Equity and Efficiency," the international academic conference invited more than 100 experts and scholars in various fields of quantitative economics at home and abroad to have in-depth exchanges, and organized 21 international frontier academic reports, 2 special reports, 4 international workshops, 18 parallel forums, and 1 journal meeting on core issues such as quantitative economics and finance. More than 300 experts, scholars, and researchers attended the symposium in person, and more than 2,100 attended the event online.

In the special report of the Key Research Base of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education (Institute of Chinese Financial Studies Finance Research of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, Center for Quantitative Economics of Jilin University), the International Workshop on Quantitative Economics, parallel forums and other exchange activities, more than 130 experts, scholars and researchers from more than 40 universities and academic institutions at home and abroad made reports on new phenomena, new problems, new mechanisms and new models in the development of China's economy and the world economy, focusing on the latest progress of quantitative economics theories and methods and their applications in the economic and financial fields. The participants spoke actively, creating a strong academic atmosphere, and had in-depth discussions and exchanges on some research results in the field of quantitative economics.

From July 8 to 9, various academic activities of the symposium were held successfully. This international academic event was hosted by the Center for Quantitative Economics of Jilin University (the School of Business and Management of Jilin University) of the Key Research Base of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education and the School of Economics and Management of Yanshan University. It was co-organized and strongly supported by domestic and foreign academic journals such as the Journal of Quantitative & Technical Economics, the Journal of Quantitative Economics, China & World Economy, and the International Review of Economics & Finance. It has built an international high-level academic exchange platform for scholars related to quantitative economics to share world-leading scientific research achievements.
