A meeting to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the China Association of Higher Education Association (CAHE) was held in Beijing's Huairou District on the morning of July 30. Cai Dafeng, Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) and chairman of the Central Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy, Chen Zhili, former State Councilor and Vice Chairperson of the 11th NPC Standing Committee, Huai Jinpeng, Party Secretary and Minister of the Ministry of Education, Zhou Ji and Yuan Guiren, former Party secretaries and ministers of the Ministry of Education, Chen Jie, a member of the Party group and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Education, Zhan Chengfu, a member of the Party group and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, Shu Wei, Deputy Party Secretary and Vice Chairman of China Association for Science and Technology, and Liu Yuhui, a member of the Party group and Vice Mayor of the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, attended the meeting. Leaders of some brother societies also attended the meeting. Former leaders of CAHE including Zhou Yuanqing, Qu Zhenyuan, Gong Ke, and Wang Shuguo also attended the meeting. Du Yubo, President of CAHE, gave a report entitled "Keeping in Mind Our Mission and Continuing to Struggle, Contributing to Accelerating the Building of a Country Strong in Education." Guan Peijun, Vice President of CAHE, announced the decision to award Jiang Nanxiang and Zhou Yuanqing the "Outstanding Contribution Award of China Association of Higher Education" and Pan Maoyuan the "Lifetime Achievement Award of Higher Education Research of China Association of Higher Education." Chen Zhili, Zhou Ji, and Chen Jie presented the awards to the awardees or relatives representing them. Lin Huiqing, Vice President of CAHE, presided over the meeting.
On the afternoon of July 30, World University Presidents Forum opened in Huairou District of Beijing. Ding Zhongli, Vice Chairperson of the 14th NPC Standing Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the China Democratic League, President of Western Returned Scholars Association and academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Chen Jie, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Education and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Liu Yuhui, Vice Mayor of the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Stefania Giannini, assistant director-general for education at UNESCO, delivered a speech via video link. Du Yubo, President of CAHE, presided over the opening ceremony. Approved by the State Council and under the guidance of the Ministry of Education, the forum was held by CAHE, Peking University, and Tsinghua University, and co-organized by UNESCO Beijing Office and relevant universities. A total of more than 500 guests from 36 countries and regions attended the forum in person, and more than 150 university Party secretaries and presidents in China were invited to attend the forum. Sixty-five presidents of high-level universities delivered reports on the theme "An Era of Transformation and the Mission of Universities".
Accompanied by relevant personnel from the YSU General Office and Higher Education Development Research Center, Zhao Xianfeng, YSU Party Secretary and Chairman of Research Association of Learning Sciences of CAHE, was invited to attend the events and held talks and exchanges with the main leaders of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, and Hefei University of Technology.
