This competition adopted a "regional-national promotion system", with each university having a quota of recommendations for the national finals. To improve the performance in the competition and strengthen its influence on educating students, the Center of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education and the School of Information Science and Engineering have attached great importance to the event and provided massive support. With their help, YSU organized a selection competition from March to July, in which it comprehensively evaluated the project plans and physical works submitted by 96 teams, which greatly improved the quality of the competition. In the competition in the North China zone of the 11th National University Students' Opt-Sci-Tech Competition held from August 3 to 5, YSU won 11 first prizes, 17 second prizes, and 5 third prizes, and 6 teams were recommended to the national finals. In more than 5 months, the students, having passed the university selection competition and the North China Competition Zone competition, have greatly improved their capacity for innovation, collaboration, and improvisation. They have set the record in both the number and the quality of received awards in the history of YSU, contributing their professional skills to the high-quality talent training and the "double-class" development of YSU.

Hosted by the Chinese Optical Society, the National University Students' Opt-Sci-Tech Competition is the highest-level national competition with the largest number of participating teams and the greatest influence in China. It's also an innovation and entrepreneurship competition recognized by YSU. With the theme of "Optics and Electricity, Competition and Innovation", the competition aims to strengthen the training of college students' capacity in practice, innovation, and teamwork, broaden their scientific horizons, promote the integration of production, education, research, and application, and facilitate the transformation of science and technology. Since its launch, the competition had drawn 10,907 students from 3,106 teams from 324 universities, and 175 teams from 86 universities were recommended to participate in the on-site physical finals after rounds of regional competitions. In the end, 75 teams won the first prize, 100 teams won the second, 151 teams won the third, and 113 teachers won the Excellent Instructor Award.
