The 2nd National International Chinese Education Skills Competition took place from June 1 to June 2. The event was sponsored by the Shaanxi Provincial Education Steering Committee for Chinese Language and Literature and Shaanxi International Chinese Education Research Association, and hosted by Xijing University. A team of six students selected from the School of Humanities and Law (School of Public Administration) competed for our university. After a rigorous competition, Zhou Yunning, an undergraduate student enrolled in the 2022 BA program in International Chinese Language Education, was awarded the first prize. Yang Jiayue, a graduate student enrolled in the 2022 MA program in International Chinese Language Education, and Shi Yuan, an undergraduate student enrolled in the 2021 BA program in Chinese Language and Literature, won the second prize. Nearly 1,000 contestants from across the country competed in the preliminary and elimination rounds. Of these, 428 candidates stood out and advanced to the final round. The competition consisted of four parts: a presentation of the lesson design, a teaching demonstration, a Q&A session conducted in both Chinese and English, and a talent show. The contestants representing our university achieved great success. They showcased a profound understanding of theoretical frameworks, effective pedagogical approaches that move from specifics to generalities, exceptional classroom organization, strong communication skills in English, and distinctive talent performances related to Chinese cultures.

Despite the challenges of preparing for the competition, the contestants methodically ensured a smooth preparation process. The instructors meticulously prepared the contestants to enhance their curriculum design, grasp the underlying logic, and provide intellectual support, thereby achieving the objective of "promoting teaching, learning, and practice through competition".

What we have achieved in the 2nd National International Chinese Education Skills Competition is a testament to our commendable efforts in aligning with the evolving demands of the International Chinese Language Education Program within the context of new liberal arts programs. These results also reflect our expertise in developing such programs. We will continue to prioritize the instilling of moral values and character development for students, in addition to responding actively to the evolving dynamics within the field of education. We will strive to promote the vigorous development of international Chinese language education, enhance our talent development capabilities and improve the teaching skills of students in this field, and strengthen regional exchanges and cooperation to help revitalize the great cause of international Chinese language education.
