On September 2, the Hebei Provincial Science and Technology Conference and Hebei Provincial Science and Technology Award Ceremony were held in Shijiazhuang. Ni Yuefeng, Secretary of the CPC Hebei Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of Hebei Provincial People’s Congress, attended the Conference and delivered a speech. Wang Zhengpu, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Hebei Provincial Committee and Governor of Hebei Province, presided over the Conference. Zhao Xianfeng, Secretary of the CPC YSU Committee participated in the Conference at the Qinhuangdao venue. Representatives who won the 2023 Hebei Provincial Science and Technology Award were commended at the Conference. YSU won a total of 10 prizes for the year 2023 (including participation in one), including 3 first prizes, 5 second prizes, and 2 third prizes. The number of first prizes awarded continued to rank among the top in the province.

Among the award-winning projects, the project “Key Technologies and Applications for Rapid Helicopter Mooring” led by Professor Zhao Dingxuan won the First Prize of Technological Invention, the project “Rational Design and Performance Control of New Lightweight Metal Ceramics” led by Professor Peng Qiuming won the First Prize of Natural Science, and the project “New High-performance Weather-resistant Bridge Steel and Application of Key Technologies” led by Professor Wang Qingfeng won the First Prize of Scientific and Technological Progress. The three first-prize winners attended the Conference and received their awards at the main venue.
The Hebei Provincial Science and Technology Award is one of the most important symbols representing the scientific and technological innovation capability and comprehensive scientific research strength in Hebei Province. It is also an important indicator for discipline evaluation and “Double First-Class initiative” construction. YSU always attaches great importance to the organization and talent cultivation for the Hebei Provincial Science and Technology Award, actively cultivates and guides scientific research personnel and teams to build up research capabilities, and strives to promote industry-university-research integration. The Hebei Provincial Science and Technology Award was established by the Hebei Provincial People’s Government to reward individuals and organizations who have made outstanding contributions in scientific and technological activities in Hebei Province. After going through a formal review, online review, industry review, and final defense, a total of 253 projects (individuals/organizations) were awarded the 2023 Hebei Provincial Science and Technology Award, including 2 recipients of Hebei Province Outstanding Contribution to Science and Technology Award, 186 recipients of Hebei Province Science and Technology Progress Award (1 special prize, 21 first prizes, 75 second prizes, 84 third prizes, 2 enterprise technological innovation prizes, and 3 science and technology popularization prizes), 22 recipients of Hebei Province Technological Invention Award (4 first prizes, 11 second prizes, and 7 third prizes), 25 recipients of Hebei Province Natural Science Award (4 first prizes, 10 second prizes, and 11 third prizes), and 17 individuals and 1 organization receiving Hebei Province Science and Technology Cooperation Award.
