[News from the News Center] On April 21th and 22th, the 2018 College Students Mechanical Design Innovation Competition of Hebei Province, also the 8th National College Student Mechanical Innovation Design Competition Hebei Province Division preliminary was held at Shijiazhuang Tiedao University. The competition featured 231 competition entries from 38 universities including YSU, Hebei University of Technology (HBT), Hebei University of Science & Technology (HBST) etc. Liren College of YSU sent 9 teams of 27 people to participate in this competition. Finally, two designs won special awards, two designs first awards, three designs the second awards, one design the third award and one design won good award. Among these, two projects, Cycling bicycle parking device and Vertical bicycle parking rack which won the special awards, will participate in the national finals.

This competition was themed with people’s livelihood and living environment in hopes of solving some problems through designing and making small parking mechanical devices in urban community’s families, and designing and making small mechanical devices or tools to assist manual picking 10 kinds of fruits including apples, oranges, strawberries, etc.
Leaders of Liren College highly valued this competition, and encouraged students to participate in competition actively by means of holding seminar, poster promotion, etc. They also arranged professional teachers to instruct the constants before competition. Wang Hongbin and Wang Guowei, Leaders of college, came to the scene many times to give instruction. In order to be familiar with the competition process better and improve the design’ quality, Mechanical Engineering Department held three showing and oral defending games. After strict and complete preparation, and several rounds of simulation, finally, 9 teams stood out and participated in the competition on behalf of college.
During the competition, Zhang Liandong and Huang Shijun from School of Mechanical Engineering and Shan Yanxia from Liren College as instructing teachers led the teams and instructed students to prepare for the competition on site. Wang Hongbin and Li Shihua, Leaders of college, as the competition judges also took time to give instructions to exhibition site. After three days and two rounds of fierce competitions including experts’ reviewing on, group matches and finals, they finally got excellent awards.
This competition not only showed the comprehensive quality and spirit of teamwork of college’s contestants, but also enabled students to recognize mechanical innovation design more clearly, which improved their skills of analysis to solve practical problems, enhanced their ability to practice on hands and laid a good foundation for creating quality and innovative talents.
