[News from the News Center] From November 5-9, the 2018 annual meeting of the Teaching Quality Management Committee of the Sino-foreign cooperative education project was held at Curtin University, Australia. The directors of relevant departments such as the International Cooperation Division, the Graduate School, the Academic Affairs Office, the School of Electrical Engineering and theSchool of Economics and Managementwere invited to participate in the meeting as Chinese members of the Teaching Quality Management Committee of the Cooperative Education Project.

Seminar on inter-school cooperation projects
During the meeting, the members from both sides held meetings on topics such as electrical engineering graduate education program, industrial engineering undergraduate education project, English language bridge course project, cooperative project evaluation and deep-level scientific research cooperation between the two universities. Detailed and in-depth issues of students’ English proficiency, communication skills and professional development were discussed and some practical solutions were put forward.
Professor Keermy Kilburn, Vice President of Curtin University, said YSU is the most powerful partner of Curtin University in China. Curtin University attaches great importance to cooperation with YSU and will further strengthen the cooperation in the projects. Curtin University is willing to provide maximum convenience and preferential treatment for YSU students in the joint education of doctoral program, as well as the technology cooperation between professors of both universities.
Teng Guosheng, Director of YSU International Cooperation Division of, expressed gratitude to Curtin University for all the efforts it has made for the project. He said that in the past few years, the two cooperative universities have run smoothly and the results are commendable. Based on these two projects, YSU has adopted some concepts of Curtin University, introduced the high-quality education and teaching resources of Curtin University, and provided opportunities for YSU staff to go to Curtin University for training, which contributed to the improvement of EMI.
YSU delegation visited the Curtin University Power System Laboratory.
The delegation met with 41 students from our university.
After the meeting, our delegation visited a number of laboratories at the Curtin University and had a discussion with the students from YSU and now studying at Curtin University. They discussed some problems and challenges encountered in the overseas study, and some practical suggestions were put forward.
The joint-education in Electrical engineering graduation education program and the Industrial engineering undergraduate education project between YSU and Curtin University were approved by the Ministry of Education in March and September 2014 respectively. So far, the operation has been smooth, and a total of 320 students are expected in the enrollment. Currently, 41students are studying at Curtin University.
