[News from theNews Center] On December 15, the National Finals of FLTRP Guocai Cup EnglishPublic Speaking Contest was held in the International Conference Center. Therewere 193 contestants from 30 provinces, municipalities, autonomous regions,Hong Kong, Macao and many overseas students in China participated in thecompetition. Zhang Zheng, YSU School of Foreign Studies representing HebeiProvince, participated in the Final, which was the first time for ouruniversity to compete in the national Finals. After fierce competitions, ZhangZheng won the third prize in the Finals, and the instructor Li Jiyan won thethird prize of the instructor.

The FLTRP GuocaiCup English Public Speaking Contest is jointly sponsored by the ForeignLanguage Teaching and Research Press, the Foreign Language Teaching Advisory Committeeof the Ministry of Education among other groups. Since its inception, thecontest has attracted the largest number of participants, and influenced peopleon the largest scale, which indicates that it is a language contest of thehighest quality in China. The contest was recognized by our university andcategorized as top competition. Since our school entered the competition in2004, the teachers of the School of Foreign Studies have accumulated wisdom andinnovation in order to steer students to success in language learning andrelated competitions. This contest was a demonstration of the achievement ofYSU foreign language teaching and learning.
