[News from the News Center] On Apr.16, the opening ceremony of 5thHebei College Student “Internet Plus” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition was held at YSU. The competition is jointly hosted by eight departments and institutions including Hebei Education Department, CCB Hebei Provincial Branch, and Office of Hebei Provincial Cyberspace Affairs Commission, held by YSU and by Sentao Co. Ltd. Wang Tingshan, deputy director-general of Hebei Education Department, and Zhao Yongsheng, YSU President, attended the ceremony, as well as 98 representatives from local Education Bureaus, universities and colleges, and around 300 experts. The ceremony was presided over by Zhu Zhiguo, Director of Higher Education Division, Hebei Education Department.

Wang Tingshan put forward three requirements in his speech. First, based on the organization, publicity and mobilization, local departments and universities should set up a clear timetable and plan, and integrate various resources inside and outside the university to create a group of quality projects.Second, we shouldtake the competition as a starting point to further deepen the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education in colleges and universities, improve the education system, and optimize the training ofthe talents. Besides, we need to get improved in learning, education, and innovation through the competition, and effectively promote the achievement transformation and the integration of industry, education, and research, in order to push forward the new businessform of “Internet Plus”, and serve high quality economic development. Third, we should carry out the “building dreams for youth” activity and prepare well forthe national largest ideological and political education lesson. Based on the revolutionary inheritance, actual needs, and the construction of a strong country, we need to actively organize college students to approachold revolutionary base areas, poverty-stricken areas and urban and rural communities, and strive to achieve long-term docking of the project, in order to launch a number ofbrand projects and demonstration areas andgive an impetus to surrounding regions.

Zhao Yongsheng was invited to give a report at the ceremony. At the beginning, Zhao pointed out that innovation and entrepreneurship education would play a dominating role in the fourth industrial revolution. Then he discussed the inner link between project-based teaching and innovation and entrepreneurshipeducation, and introduced the “small but fine”, “high and top”, “excellent and specialized” engineering education talent training model based on the course projectin Olin College. In addition, Zhao shared YSU’s innovative and entrepreneurial talent training system based on CDIO project-based teaching from training program, teaching framework, competition platform practice base and top-level design and related policies, which attracted the attention of the participants.
Ma Defu, vice chairman of the National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Venture Capital Union, detailed the 5thNational “Internet Plus”Competition. Wu Di, deputy director of Innovation and EntrepreneurshipOffice at Sichuan University, and HuoXiongfei, Vice President of Nanjing Institute of Industry Technology, introduced the experiences and practices of innovative entrepreneurship educationcombined with their work.

At the same time, the flag-presenting ceremony for “building dreams for youth” was held. Wang Tingshan presented the flag to the representative. Wang encouraged the team to show their energetic spirits in the activity.He called on them to approachold revolutionary base areas, poverty-stricken areas, and ethnic groups with the determination, enthusiasm and perseverance to struggle, innovate, and bear hardships, and to help targeted poverty alleviation with knowledge of students, scientific research achievements, and social capital applied to rural areas, bringing together strength for national rejuvenation through the actual practice of innovation and entrepreneurship.
