[News from the News Center] On the morning, Sept. 3, Zhao Dingxuan, YSU President, met the delegation from Curtin University, Australia, with John Cordery, Provost of Curtin University, as the leader, at the first reception room, the Century Building. Other leaders also attended the meeting, including Chen Guoqiang, YSU Vice President and those from International Cooperation Division, School of Electrical Engineering, and School of Economics and Management.

Zhao Dingxuan expressed his warm welcome to the delegation from Curtin University. He pointed out that YSU and Curtin University have conducted close exchanges and cooperation over the years. The program of electrical engineering forpostgraduate education and the program of industrial engineering for undergraduate education jointly organized by the two universities have run smoothly and achievedremarkableacademicresults and social reputation. He fully affirmed the achievements of the cooperation between the two universities and expressed his gratitude to Curtin University for its strong support and hard work in all aspects. He noted that YSU’s new leadership group is now guidingall the teachers and students of the university to strive for the goal of building adomestic first-class and world-renowned research university with distinctive features, and improve the international education. YSU hopes to continue to deepen the cooperation with Curtin Universityin more areas and at higher level. He believes that with the sincerity and efforts of both sides, the two universities will reach fruitful and deeper friendship. In addition, Zhao Dingxuan also introduced the situation in which YSU accelerated the “double first-class” construction andmajorprogressin recent scientific research.
John Cordery expressed his gratitude to Zhao Dingxuan. He said that YSU is the most important partner of Curtin University in China. Curtin University is proudof the outstanding graduates jointly trained by the two universities. Since YSU has admirableachievements in teaching and research, Curtin University is willing to further promote exchanges and cooperation on the “2+2” inter-school project, two-way joint training of doctoral students, and scientific research based on thetwo existing Sino-foreign cooperative education projects and the exchange of teachers and students. He congratulated YSU on its upcoming 100thanniversary and sincerely invited Zhao Dingxuan and his delegation to visit Curtin University. President Zhao was pleased to accept the invitation and express his gratitude.
Subsequently, Chen Guoqiang briefed the delegation on the general situation of YSU and held talks with the delegations together with the leaders from International Cooperation Division, School of Electrical Engineering, and School of Economics and Management. The two sides conducted in-depth consultations and reached consensus on the two existing Sino-foreign cooperative education projects, “2+2” inter-school cooperation project, joint training of doctoral students, joint research and development of engineering disciplines, application of new Sino-foreign cooperative education projects, and deep cooperation in business disciplines. They also made specific arrangements for the details of the cooperative projects, and the schedule for the implementation.
