[News from the News Center] On October 12, the first lecture of the series of academic activities for the promotion of the study of philosophy and social sciences by the Department of Social Sciences of YSU was held in Conference Room 217 of the building of the School of Humanities and Law. The theme of this lecture was “Scientific Research in Philosophy and Social Sciences” and discipline construction of the “Double-first Class” university, and specially invited Professor Xiao Guiqing, Associate Dean of the School of Marxism at Tsinghua University to deliver a speech. The lecture was hosted by Professor Yuan Xumei, Director of the Department of Social Sciences. More than 100 teachers and graduate students from 6 schools attended the conference.

Professor Xiao Guiqing resolves around some new trends in philosophy and social science research since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. How to realize the academic research and discipline construction, scientific research projects and scientific research achievements in the liberal arts construction in colleges and universities, the selection and demonstration of high-end scientific research projects in liberal arts. The key question is how to improve the scientific research consciousness, capture scientific research problems, condense scientific research results, how to realize the integration of teaching and scientific research, and promote each other. In combination with his own research work experience, he has carried out in-depth and meticulous explanation. The problem of scientific research confusion raised by teachers has been addressed. The teachers and students are deeply inspired and have benefited from the report.
This lecture is the first one of series activities.
