[News from the News Center] On the afternoon, Nov. 14, YSU held the final of recital contestat the 718 Lecture Hall of the YSU Library in honor of the great achievements of the People’s Republic of China in the past 70 years, and to inherit and carry forward the spirit of patriotism, and greetYSU’scentenary celebration. It is one of the reading activities themed by “Me and My Motherland”. Leaders from of the Publicity Departmentof YSU Party Committee, Student Affairs Departmentof YSU Party Committee,YSUCommittee of the Communist Youth League, “Qiu Shi” Reading Club, YSU Library and other departments were invited as judges.

18 contestants from 5 schoolswho had entered the final recited thepatriotic poems with their love for the country. During the contest, representatives of the librarians and members of YSULibrary Student Committee sang the song “Me and My Motherland” and “As a PowerfulGeneration”. In the end, the judges selected 3 first prizes, 5 second prizes and 10 third prizes.
After the contest, Li Fuliang,theDirector of the “Qiu Shi”Reading Club, made comments on the contestants’ performance. Li praised the contest and their performance, and he explained the recitation skills and how to express emotions with demonstration. He hopes that the students can read more, read good books, cherish youth, and live up to our expectation.
So far, the two-month reading activities themed by “Me and My Motherland”came to an end.

The reading activities is to celebrate the 70thanniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, to deepen the thematic education of “Remain true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind” and to greet YSU’s upcoming centenary celebration, aiming to promote the spirit of patriotism and inherit the our culture. Besides, it is expected to help serve the readers, promote campus culture, and present new styles on campus.
